Fatal House Fire-Dispatch Audio

Jan 26 2026: Detroit Fire Department units responded to a dwelling fire at W. Parkhurst & John R at 5:24 a.m. Battalion Chiefs 8 and 5 assumed incident command.

Engine 44 arrived on scene and stretched lines on a working fire involving a dwelling. The structure was initially believed to be vacant; however, Ladder Truck 18 located a victim inside the residence and began removal.

Detroit EMS Medic 16 was dispatched to the scene and initiated CPR upon arrival. DEMS Supervisor 1107 and DEMS Medic 20 also responded, with Medic 20 serving as backup. Medic 16 transported the critically injured victim to DRH, where the victim was pronounced deceased.

Exploding Manhole Covers / Utility Incident in Downtown Detroit

Detroit – January 21, 2026

At approximately 12:45 a.m., Detroit Police responded to reports of multiple manhole covers exploding near Washington Boulevard and Lafayette Boulevard. Officers on scene reported fire and flames emitting from the manholes.

DPD secured the area and restricted pedestrian and vehicle access for public safety. Detroit Fire Department Engine 1 and Ladder Truck 20 were dispatched and responded to the scene. Power outages were reported in the surrounding area, and DTE Energy was notified.

DTE advised they do not provide electrical service in that specific area, but stated they would send a crew to evaluate natural gas infrastructure. Public Lighting Department (PLD) was also notified, as they provide electrical service in the area.

During the incident, Battalion Chief 1, Engine 9, and Ladder Truck 20 were dispatched to investigate a fire alarm activation in the electrical room at 1020 Washington Blvd (Hotel Indigo). The alarm was believed to have been triggered by the power interruption.

Michigan Gas Utilities (MichCon) was requested and responded with an estimated 15–20 minute ETA at approximately 1:11 a.m.

At 1:21 a.m., Battalion Chief 1 directed Engine 9 and Ladder Truck 20 to remain at Hotel Indigo to monitor conditions. Engine 1 remained on scene at the manhole incident location.

According to Detroit Police officers on scene, power was restored at approximately 1:57 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the manhole explosions remains under investigation.

Fatal vehicle versus pedestrian I-96 & MLK

Woman Killed After Jumping From Overpass

DISPATCH AUDIO


Fatal Traffic Crash: 08/01/2024 at 7:30 AM Location: W I 96 near MLK – Detroit

The Detroit Regional Communication Center received a call about a pedestrian on the freeway. Troopers were sent to check on the pedestrian and while headed there another caller informed the center that the pedestrian had been struck by a car.

Witnesses on scene reported that the female had jumped from the overpass and was in the right lane when she was struck by a Ford van. The driver of the van stopped after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.

The 39 year old female from Detroit that was struck was pronounced dead on the scene. The on scene investigation is completed and troopers are waiting on medical examiner reports.

Detroit Fire Occupied Dwelling Fire, Albany & Emery

Occupied Dwelling Fire On Detroit’s East Side

Detroit’s East Side (212PM 7.25.24): Detroit Fire responded to the 19300 block of Albany x Emery on reports of a dwelling fire. Engine 56 reported stretching on a burning dwelling. Engine 56 also reported a civilian on scene stated everyone inside the dwelling were out. Battalion Chief 8 had incident command with Battalion Chief 3 as safety officer.

Companies on fire scene: Engines 56, 60, 44, Ladder Truck 23, Squad 3, Battalion Chief’s 3/8, DEMS Medic 16.

There were no injuries on the fire scene.

Thursday Morning Recap: DPD, DFD & DEMS

Recap of Overnight Runs By DPD, DFD & DEMS 7.25.24

Detroit: This is a recap of runs made by the DPD, DFD & DEMS in the early morning hours of 7.25.24.

Detroit Fire Box Alarm West Side

Box Alarm (227AM): Detroit Fire responded to the 8400 block of Brace on reports of a vacant dwelling fire. Battalion Chief 4 took incident command with Battalion Chief 2 as safety officer. Engine 55 was first on the scene and reported stretching on a 1.5 story dwelling. Primary and secondary searches were negative. Battalion Chief 4 reported the fire was out at 3:00AM. No injuries reported.

Companies on the fire scene: Engines 53, 55, 57, Ladder Truck 27, Squad 4, Battalion Chief’s 2/4 and DEMS Medic 5.


West Side Shooting

Shooting (3:05AM): DPD responded to Meyers & Eaton on reports of a shooting. Arriving scouts confirmed the shooting and DFD’s Engine 30 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 20 responded. DEMS Medic 20 conveyed 1 to a local hospital.


Medical Aid/Child

Medical Aid (5:40AM): DPD’s 6th Precinct, DFD’s Engine 57 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 4 responded to Pierson & Schoolcraft on reports of a 10yo in cardiac arrest. The child was also described as an infant so the exact age is unknown. Engine 57/DEMS Medic 4 were advised CPR was in progress. CPR was continued when Engine 57 & DEMS Medic 4 arrived on scene. DEMS Medic 4 conveyed the child to Children’s Hospital with 1 firefighter from Engine 57 on board to assist with CPR. DEMS Medic 4 was rerouted to Sinai-Grace due to the severity of the run.


Detroit Fire Box Alarm SW Detroit

Detroit Fire Box Alarm (5:45AM): Detroit Fire responded to 2218 S Bassett on reports of a dwelling fire. Engine 48 was first on the fire scene and stretched on a single family dwelling going throughout. Battalion Chief 7 took incident command with Battalion Chief 1 as safety officer. Primary and secondary searches were negative on the vacant dwelling. Battalion Chief 7 reported the fire was out at 6:20AM.

Companies on fire scene: Engines 27, 33, 48, Ladder Truck 13, Squad 4, Battalion Chief’s 1/7 and DEMS Medic 11.
