Thursday Morning Recap: DPD, DFD & DEMS

Recap of Overnight Runs By DPD, DFD & DEMS 7.25.24

Detroit: This is a recap of runs made by the DPD, DFD & DEMS in the early morning hours of 7.25.24.

Detroit Fire Box Alarm West Side

Box Alarm (227AM): Detroit Fire responded to the 8400 block of Brace on reports of a vacant dwelling fire. Battalion Chief 4 took incident command with Battalion Chief 2 as safety officer. Engine 55 was first on the scene and reported stretching on a 1.5 story dwelling. Primary and secondary searches were negative. Battalion Chief 4 reported the fire was out at 3:00AM. No injuries reported.

Companies on the fire scene: Engines 53, 55, 57, Ladder Truck 27, Squad 4, Battalion Chief’s 2/4 and DEMS Medic 5.


West Side Shooting

Shooting (3:05AM): DPD responded to Meyers & Eaton on reports of a shooting. Arriving scouts confirmed the shooting and DFD’s Engine 30 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 20 responded. DEMS Medic 20 conveyed 1 to a local hospital.


Medical Aid/Child

Medical Aid (5:40AM): DPD’s 6th Precinct, DFD’s Engine 57 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 4 responded to Pierson & Schoolcraft on reports of a 10yo in cardiac arrest. The child was also described as an infant so the exact age is unknown. Engine 57/DEMS Medic 4 were advised CPR was in progress. CPR was continued when Engine 57 & DEMS Medic 4 arrived on scene. DEMS Medic 4 conveyed the child to Children’s Hospital with 1 firefighter from Engine 57 on board to assist with CPR. DEMS Medic 4 was rerouted to Sinai-Grace due to the severity of the run.


Detroit Fire Box Alarm SW Detroit

Detroit Fire Box Alarm (5:45AM): Detroit Fire responded to 2218 S Bassett on reports of a dwelling fire. Engine 48 was first on the fire scene and stretched on a single family dwelling going throughout. Battalion Chief 7 took incident command with Battalion Chief 1 as safety officer. Primary and secondary searches were negative on the vacant dwelling. Battalion Chief 7 reported the fire was out at 6:20AM.

Companies on fire scene: Engines 27, 33, 48, Ladder Truck 13, Squad 4, Battalion Chief’s 1/7 and DEMS Medic 11.
