Suspect Armed With AR15 Down
Detroit’s East Side (5:13PM): Detroit PD’s 7th Precinct were called to the Sunoco Gas Station at 9949 E Warren Thursday afternoon on reports of a felony assault. The suspect, a Black male was said to be armed with an AR15. The 911 caller mentioned “this is the real thing”. The suspect, a man in his 20s, demanded to get behind the glass most; if not all, gas stations and liquor stores place their clerks behind. The suspect was unsuccessful and ran from the Sunoco.
Arriving officers found the suspect in the 4700 block of Pennsylvania where he was spotted entering a home, still armed with the AR15.
Dispatch audio suggests the suspect; and possibly others, exited the front door of the residence but refused verbal commands. The suspect was still armed with the AR15. The suspect then reentered the residence with the weapon.
Shortly after entering the home, the suspect exited and started walking northbound on Pennsylvania, armed with an AR15. Police say the “highly intoxicate suspect then pointed the weapon at officers, an officer fired 1 shot at the suspect, dropping him at E Warren & Pennsylvania. The weapon was recovered.
During the incident a red Cadillac was seen by officers attempting to enter the scene.
The suspect was conveyed to DRH by DPD Scouts. DEMS Medic 13 was dispatched to the scene but cancelled shortly afterward. DPD Evidence Techs have been dispatched to process the scene.
The suspects condition is unknown and no officers were injured.
