Freeway Shooting On The I-94



Detroit 6:45PM: The Michigan State Police are investigating another freeway shooting, this time on the eastbound I-94 at Woodward Ave. Troopers from the MSP with assistance from the Detroit Police Department are preparing to shut down the eastbound lanes of the I-94 from the M-10 John C Lodge Freeway to the I-75 Chrysler Freeway.

Updates as more information is provided.



MSP Update-Freeway Shooting

via MSP: Road Rage Incident: On 1/24 at approximately 6 45 PM, a driver (Victim) of a passenger vehicle was driving eastbound I 94 between Woodward and I 75 when a vehicle in front of him preformed a brake check.

The driver passed the vehicle and brake checked the other driver back. That driver (suspect) pulled along the passenger side and fired approximately 2-3 shots with two causing damage to the victim’s vehicle in the area of the right side passenger door.

The victim indicated that the shots were fired on E/B I-94 Fwy between Woodward and I-75.  The suspect vehicle exited E/B I-94 at Van Dyke unknown direction of travel from I-94 Fwy. Eastbound I94 from M-10 to Woodward is closed for a search. Investigation continues

Road Rage Update: Detectives and troopers continued their investigation over night and were able to locate the suspect vehicle. The MSP Emergency Support Team executed a search warrant and a suspect(s) were taken into custody. More investigation to follow.

Video: MSP Pursuit Ends With 2 Captured

Two Suspects Taken Into Custody


On 1/22 at approximately 6 45 PM, troopers over heard a pursuit for a possible homicide suspect in a blue Hellcat Charger. The local departments discontinued the pursuit. A Metro North trooper relocated the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.The suspect driver refused to stop and troopers started to pursue the vehicle. The pursuit continued westbound I-94 near Masonic and ended at westbound 8 mile and Gratiot when the suspect vehicle crashed.



UPDATE: MSP Dispatch Station 20 overheard a vehicle pursuit on westbound I-94 near Metropolitan Parkway. Macomb County deputies were pursuing a suspect vehicle for a shooting/homicide which just occurred in Clinton Twp. Troopers were nearby and joined the pursuit. The pursuit continued westbound on 8 Mile Rd until the suspect vehicle crashed into a metal electrical pole in the median, just east of Gratiot Ave. The two suspects received injuries including broken bones and one had a previous gunshot wound. No MSP patrol cars received any damage nor came in contact with any other vehicles. No members of the public or troopers were hurt. The suspects were transported to St. John’s Moross Hospital for treatment. Two weapons (Long gun and pistol) were recovered from the suspect vehicle. For information on the original incident contact Clinton Township Police.

Final Pursuit Update: The Dodge Hellcat that was involved in the Clinton Township (Macomb County) homicide was confirmed stolen. The driver, a 20-year-old male from Warren, and passenger, a 19-year-old male from Mt. Clemens , where arrested without further incident. A vehicle search located two pistols and a long gun. Both suspects were turned over to Clinton Township Police as part of their investigation. The report from the pursuit will be turned over for prosecutor review. No further information will be released.

Dispatch Audio: Inkster PD Officer Involved Shooting and Pursuit.

Pursuit & Shots Fired In Inkster

Inkster: At around 4:10PM Sunday afternoon, Inkter Police received reports of 3 Black males breaking into a boarded up apartment in the area of 2630 Hamlin in the City of Inkster. Arriving units reported the suspects vehicle, a purple Dodge Challenger was in the process of fleeing the scene.



Officer pursued the vehicle from the scene and at one point, the suspects vehicle struck a police unit. Officers fired on the vehicle with their service weapons, striking it multiple times. It’s unknown if the suspect(s) were struck by gunfire. No officers were injured.

The pursuit proceeded on city streets and the I-94, at one time exiting the freeway at Rawsonville Road near Willow Run Airport. The vehicle then again entered the EB I-94, still being pursued by the police.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle in the area of the 275 & I-94.

Later, Detroit Police Greenlight 3 located the wanted vehicle at 7 Mile & Stout/Votrobeck in the City of Detroit. The DPD, Inkster and Michigan State Police have a perimeter set up in the area and the investigating continues.

It now appears the DPD is closing down the investigation in the area of 7 Mile & Stout.

MSP Update

Update: MSP was contacted by Inkster Police to assist with a B & E and shots fired at a apartment complex off Hamlin Dr in the city of Inkster. Very preliminary investigation revealed that Inkster Police officers confronted three suspects fleeing after trying to break in.

One of the suspects got into a purple Dodge Challenger. As the suspect fled he struck one or two patrol cars and police fired at the suspect. At this time there are no injuries to suspect(s) or officers.

The suspect vehicle fled the area.

The suspect was pursued by several downriver area departments until they lost contact with the suspect. At approximately 6 35 PM, DPD units located the vehicle unoccupied in the area of 7 Mile and Stout. Currently, none of the suspects are in custody.

Dispatch Audio: Double Fatal Shooting In Dearborn Heights

Double Fatal Shooting-Suspect Dead

Dearborn Heights: Dearborn Heights Police were called to the 400 block of Yorkshire Blvd at around 2:18PM Saturday afternoon on reports of a subject firing rounds into the air from a rifle.

Arriving officers had eyes on the subject as he entered a 2nd floor apartment. The subject eventually left the apartment, still armed with a rifle and shots were fired. It is unknown if officers on the scene exchanged gunfire with the gunman, but officers reported the subject was down.

Homicide Investigation: On 8/29 at approximately 2:30PM Dearborn Heights PD responded to Yorkshire Street for a shooting that had occurred or was on going. Preliminary investigation revealed that one suspect shot and killed two people.

The suspect then fired on responding officers. The suspect was killed during the incident. It is undetermined at this time the cause of death. Dearborn Heights Police has requested MSP to investigate the incident.

Currently, Special Investigation Section detectives, Forensic Lab, and MSP Unmanned Aircraft are on scene. There were no other reported injuries. The investigation is in its beginning stages and more information will be released as we confirm details.

We are not identifying the suspect or victims at this time as next of kin have not been notified. Expect police in that area through the evening.

MSP Update

Update via MSP 8:30AM 8.30.2020: Assist to Dearborn Heights: Detectives continue their investigation this morning. Investigation revealed that Dearborn Heights Police Department was responding to a 911 call for gunshots at the Cherry Hill Village Apartments. A suspect was on a second story balcony over looking the parking lot with an AR style rifle.  Dearborn Heights PD made contact with the suspect from a distance and told him to drop the weapon.  The suspect shot at the police and they again gave him orders to drop the weapon. The suspect shot at officers a second time. Officers returned fire, striking and killing the suspect.  Police cleared the apartment and discovered two dead women in the apartment. There were no other injuries or victims. The suspect has been identified as a 43 year old male from Dearborn Heights. The victims are a 67 year old female from Dearborn Heights, the suspects mother, and his sister, 33 year old female also from Dearborn Heights. Detectives are still trying to determine why the suspect shot and killed his family members. The suspect was in possession of an AR style rifle and had another rifle in his bedroom along with approximately 30 loaded magazines. Investigation into this incident continues.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash On The WB I-96 & Southfield Freeway

Motorcycle Strikes Wall-Thrown

Fatal Crash: On 07/12 at approximately 5 55 AM, troopers were dispatched to westbound I-96 Express at Southfield Fwy for a body in the middle of the road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle rider was driving at a high rate of speed on westbound I-96 Express approaching the Southfield Freeway. The male rider lost control of the motorcycle on the ramp to Southfield Fwy and struck the wall.

The rider became separated from the motorcycle, went over the side of the bridge and landed down on the westbound local lanes.

He was pronounced dead on the scene. Next of kin have not been notified. Excessive speed is a factor. Investigation continues.
