Dispatch Audio: Double Shooting on Detroit’s NW Side

DPD’s 8th Precinct Investigating a Double Shooting

Detroit’s NW 1250AM 7.27.24: DPD’s 8th Precinct received reports of shots being fired in the 19100 block of Appleton at around 1246AM Saturday morning. The incident escalated after a 911 caller reported his brother had been shot in the mouth. Shots continued to be reported near the Motor City Coney Island at 7 Mile & Appleton.

Arriving 8th Precinct scouts confirmed the shooting and that there were 2 shooting victims according to dispatch audio. Detroit Fire’s Engine 54 (MFR-Medical First Response) and DEMS Medic 22 were also dispatched to the scene. DEMS Supervisor 1111 also responded.

There were also reports of multiple shots being fired in the area of Telegraph & Grand River, south of the shooting location.

Detroit Police investigating a shooting on Detroit’s west side

1 shot in the 8900 block of Mansfield x Ellis

Detroit’s West Side 550PM 7.26.24: Shooting: DPD’s 6th Precinct in the 8900 block of Mansfield x Ellis with a shooting. Detroit Fire’s Engine 53 and Rapid Response Medic 51 also responded.

CPR was reportedly in progress before the DFD arrived and continued to the hospital inside Rapid Response Medic 51. A firefighter from Engine 53 accompanied the medics to a local hospital.

DPD Scouts from the 6th Precinct blocked intersections for EMS leading into the scene and en route to the hospital.

Curt & Van Dyke, No Injuries To Troopers or Public

Detroit’s East Side (7:50AM 7.26.24): A Michigan State Police undercover trooper was shot at earlier this morning while conducting operations in the area of Curt & Van Dyke on Detroit’s east side. After receiving fire, the UC vehicle contacted dispatch with the location of the shooting and a suspect/suspect vehicle description. Another UC vehicle followed the suspect vehicle, a gray 2020 Ford Escape with 1 B/M driver through the east side until losing sight of the vehicle on 8 Mile E & Syracuse.

The involved trooper nor his vehicle were hit by fired rounds. The investigation continues.

Detroit Fire Occupied Dwelling Fire, Albany & Emery

Occupied Dwelling Fire On Detroit’s East Side

Detroit’s East Side (212PM 7.25.24): Detroit Fire responded to the 19300 block of Albany x Emery on reports of a dwelling fire. Engine 56 reported stretching on a burning dwelling. Engine 56 also reported a civilian on scene stated everyone inside the dwelling were out. Battalion Chief 8 had incident command with Battalion Chief 3 as safety officer.

Companies on fire scene: Engines 56, 60, 44, Ladder Truck 23, Squad 3, Battalion Chief’s 3/8, DEMS Medic 16.

There were no injuries on the fire scene.

Wayne County Prosecutor Has Authorized a 12 Count Warrant In Murder of Melvindale Police Officer

Melvindale Investigative Update: The Wayne County Prosecutor Office has authorized a 12 count warrant in the Second District, Special Investigation Section investigation into the homicide of Officer Mohamed Said.

The warrant includes the following counts:

Homicide- Murder of a Peace Officer

Weapons Possession by a Prohibited Person

Carrying a Concealed Weapon

Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of Cocaine

Weapons carrying with Unlawful Intent

Felony Firearms X 5

Habitual Offender Fourth Offense

The arraignment for the suspect, Michael Lopez, will take place at the Melvindale Court via video today. The time has not been determined.
