Non Fatal Shooting On Detroit’s West Side…Or Not

Detroit’s West Side: This shooting victim was found @ 8 Mile & Ohio by responding 12th Precinct scouts. There was a little confusion on the scene as it appeared the shooting didn’t take place in Detroit, but in Ferndale.

Michigan State Police were approached by witnesses who directed them to the actual shooting scene, not in Ferndale, but in Royal Oak Township.

But WAIT! There’s More!

Royal Oak Twp Shooting: 9:11PM – Metro North Troopers are currently attempting to locate a shooting scene on the 21000 block of Parkside Blvd. Preliminary information from two callers was relayed through DPD communication giving different locations in Detroit and Ferndale.

Allegedly there are three suspects on foot no description at this time. Troops are collecting information at the scene and at Sinai Grace where the victim was transported. More information as it becomes available. Expect heavy law enforcement in the area.

Township of Royal Oak Shooting Update: 9:55PM – Preliminary Information, subject to change, At 800 PM 01/03, MSP was notified by DPD about a shooting that had occurred in the township. DPD had been in contact with the victim who was en route to Sinai Grace Hospital.

There was conflicting information about the whereabouts of the actual location that was originally reported as a residence on Parkside. However, responding Troopers made contact with witnesses who provided information identifying the location as the area of Bates/Garden.

Witnesses who were with the victim at the time of the shooting reported two suspects had shot the victim before fleeing on foot. A third subject joined the two suspects in running from the scene and is now considered to be a third suspect involved with this incident.

Troopers located evidence on the scene. MSP K9 is on scene looking for evidence/suspects and attempting a track for the weapon in the area. Troopers are also at Sinai Grace attempting to ascertain the victim’s condition as well as establish additional information.

Trooper 2 (MSP Aviation)is also assisting in a canvass of the area. The Second District Special Investigation Section is continuing the investigation. If you have information regarding this incident, please contact 248.584.5740. This is the last update this evening.

Township of Royal Oak Shooting: UPDATE: Update on Royal Oak Twp shooting: The victim has been identified as a 20 year old male and is currently at Sinai Grace Hospital. He is in critical but stable condition at this time.

Fatal Shooting On Detroit’s West Side, Again

Tonights fatal shooting occurred at 8923 8 Mile Rd at around 7:15pm Thursday evening.

12th Precinct officers were dispatched to reports of a shooting on 8 Mile & Wyoming. Arriving officers discovered the victim, a 36 year old male and described as a father of 5, in the parking lot of Bottom’s Up Party Store @ Cherrylawn & 8 Mile.

The man was inside the party store purchasing lottery tickets, left and was confronted by two masked assailants when he was shot multiple times.

The 2 suspects left in what is described as a black Dodge Charger or Chrysler 300. No further information is available.

Detroit EMS Medic 17 responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Detroit’s SW Side: 4:30 PM – Detroit Police from the 4th Precinct responded to reports of a male shot in the 6300 block of Musket, just west of Livernois.

Arriving officers found a 54 year old male with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers applied a tourniquet prior to Detroit EMS arrival.

Detroit EMS Medic 19 conveyed the victim to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Detroit Police evidence techs have also been dispatched to process the scene.

Circumstances behind the shooting and the victims condition is unknown at this time.

Edit: 11:24PM – Thursday January 3 2019

The victim, a 45 year old male, told officers he was outside on his porch when the suspect, described as a heavy-set male, drove up in a white van.

The perp exited the van carrying a pizza box and as he approached, whipped out a handgun and fired several rounds, striking the victim multiple times. The victim is reportedly in stable condition.

Adding insult to injury, the suspect got back into his van and fled the scene…with the pizza.

Dispatch Audio: Detroit Fire Averts Disaster In Early Morning Level 1 Hazmat Fire

East Side Titanium Plant Fire Injures 3

Detroit: Detroit Fire’s 8th & 9th Battalions averted disaster this morning by quickly extinguishing a dangerous Level 1 Hazmat fire on Detroit’s east side. 

Companies were dispatched to 19300 Filer Ave on reports of a fire in a metal processing plant at 2:30am. Argon and titanium were reportedly present at the fire scene. Explosions were reported to have taken place prior to Detroit Fire’s arrival.

A Hazmat Level 1 was declared at 3:13am by Battalion Chief 8. Companies on scene took a defensive posture while Detroit Fire’s Hazmat 1 investigated the scene for dangers associated with the contents of the 50×30 building. 

DFD’s Hazmat 1 discovered that no chemicals or any other hazardous material was present and in danger of catching fire. 

Local media is reporting non-life threatening injuries to 3 employees of Global Titanium, Inc. Global Titanium is a recycler of titanium.

No firefighters were injured.

Dispatch Audio: One Dead In I-94 Rollover Accident In Casco Township

Sterling Heights Man Killed On I-94

Casco Township, St Clair County, Mi:  A Sterling Heights man died as the result of injuries suffered in a one vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on I-94 in Casco Township.

According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, 67 year old Patrick Mrachina was alone, travelling westbound on I-94 near Church Road shortly after 3:00.  Mrachina lost control of his 2008 Ford pickup on what were described as icy road conditions at the time.  T

he vehicle went off the road to the right and went on its side, with Mrachina being ejected from the vehicle and suffering fatal injuries.  

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Mrachina was transported by Richmond-Lenox EMS to the morgue at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.

Richmond Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation.
