Police Officer Dragged By Fleeing Suspects
Detroit’s SW Side 114AM 7 November 2021: Detroit Police 4th Precinct officers were assaulted by a fleeing suspect during a traffic stop in the area of the I-94 & Livernois early Sunday morning. Dispatch audio suggests the suspects were refusing to cooperate with officers and left the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee. In the process of fleeing, at least 1 officer from the 4th Precinct was dragged by the vehicle, suffering injuries.
3 Suspects Taken Into Custody
The 4th Precinct Scouts reported they were in pursuit of the vehicle until they reached the area of Lonyo & McGraw. The suspects bailed from the vehicle and ran between houses in the 5100 block of Renville. The officers quickly took 2 of the suspects, a black male and female into custody. A third suspect was taken into custody a short time later according to dispatch audio. During the pursuit, dispatch audio also suggests the fleeing vehicle struck other vehicles on the route.
Hart Medic 54 was dispatched to the scene for the injured officer. Officers from multiple precincts; alerted of the route Hart Medic 54 was taking to Henry Ford Hospital, closed traffic en route. A second medic, DEMS Medic 1 was also dispatch for what dispatch audio described as a female with mouth injuries.
