Homicide Suspect Fires On Precinct

Detroit’s East Side: A homicide suspect opened fire on DPD’s 5th Precinct earlier Tuesday morning at around 5:15AM. The shooter was wanted in an earlier fatal shooting in the area of Grand River & Warren at 11:18PM Monday evening. Dispatch audio of that incident is also below. The fatal shooting was in conjunction with a domestic violence incident. The suspect was 28 years old, wanted out of Southfield for domestic violence with a history of the same.

The suspect, in a black Lincoln Navigator, fired at least 4 rounds at the precinct from what is described as a high-powered AR type rifle, prompting an immediate lockdown. The suspect was pursued and ended up in a parking lot near the precinct. Scouts from numerous precincts converged on the area, locking it down, closing streets and notifying the nearby Chrysler Plant.

BOLO Issued For Homicide Suspect

Below is the BOLO or Be on the Lookout for the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting on Grand River. The BOLO was issued at 3:37AM.

During the incident, an officer was injured by flying glass, although those injuries were minor and the officer was treated by EMS on scene. The nearby McDonald’s also reported one of their windows was shot out during the incident.

The homicide/shooting suspect remained in his vehicle during the incident.

The homicide/shooting suspect was neutralized/shot & killed by members of Detroit’s SRT at 7:32AM after he exchanged fire with officers.

Local news is reporting this as a grocery store robbery of some sort, and those responsible fired on officers. There was a run at the same time for a number of people B&E’ing a market at Harper & Conner, but this was a completely separate incident in the 9th Precinct and no shots were fired.

Officer Involved Shooting On Detroit’s West Side

Detroit’s West Side (12:35PM): A DPD 12th Precinct Scout reported shots fired and 1 suspect down in the 17100 block of San Juan earlier this afternoon at around 12:35PM. The details on the incident aren’t immediately available at the moment. Detroit Fire’s Engine 30 and a DEMS Medic were dispatched to the scene. Detroit Police Homicide investigators are on the scene.

Update: Cease Fire Officers from the 12th Precinct in conjunction with Gang Intelligence Unit were involved in an investigation in conjunction with a mass shooting that occurred at the same location on July 4th/5th where 3 people were fatally shot and 5 others sustained non-life threatening injuries according to Chief Craig.

While investigating, officers were approached by numerous individuals, 1 of those was identified as a person with felony warrants. When the officers approached that person, a struggle ensued. The suspect produced a 22 semi-automatic handgun, began shooting at officers and those officer’s returned fire, killing the suspect. The investigation continues.

Dispatch Audio: Shots Fired @ DPD Undercover Officers on Detroit’s West Side

Detroit’s West Side (3:14AM) DPD undercover officers came under fire early Tuesday morning in the area of Northlawn & Intervale. The undercover officer called out a priority shots fired call at 3:14AM while chasing the suspect vehicle WB on the Davison approaching the WB I-96.

The suspect vehicle was described as a late model silver/white Chevrolet Tahoe with tinted windows. No plate information was given. The suspect vehicle was occupied by 2 suspects, armed with assault style rifles.

The undercover officer also mentioned two other vehicles involved in the incident, they were reportedly sporting Minnesota plates. There was some confusion on what kind of plates the suspect vehicle had and reports indicated Minnesota plates. That information was later revised to Michigan plates.

Units from the 2nd Precinct/UC vehicles followed the vehicle westbound on the I-96 from the Davison. The suspect vehicle exited the WB I-96 @ Greenfield and proceeded NB on Greenfield at speeds of at least 100MPH. Units lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Greenfield & Outer Dr W.

DPD did think they had the vehicle at Mark Twain & Midland but that vehicle turned out to be not involved. The Michigan State Police also pulled over a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle on the NB I-75 @ 6 Mile, but soon cleared the vehicle as not involved.

No shots took effect during the shooting, the undercover officers vehicle was not struck and he was not injured.

Canvassing officers did find a scene at Northlawn & Intervale, discovering numerous shell casings. The suspect vehicle remains outstanding and the DPD continues its investigation.

Dispatch Audio: Officer Involved Shooting, 7 Mile & Telegraph

Detroit’s West Side 4:37PM: An officer from Detroit’s 2nd Precinct was involved in an officer involved shooting this afternoon. Shots were fired at the suspect at the BP Gas Station @ 7 Mile & Telegraph according to dispatch audio.

The suspects vehicle, described as a tan Saturn, continued north on Telegraph to the area of 8 Mile where the vehicle crashed. Multiple units from the 8th, 6th & 2nd Precincts are in the area securing both scenes. A DPD union steward has also been dispatched.

Detroit EMS Medic’s 27/4 were dispatched to 8 Mile & Telegraph (suspect) and DEMS Medic 11 to the BP @ 19100 W Telegraph (injured officer).

One injured person, suspect or civilian is unknown, was conveyed by DEMS Medic 27 (Code 1 Critical) to Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills and the injured officer to Sinai-Grace by DEMS Medic 11, Code 2 (Not Critical).

The extent of injuries on both are unknown at this time.

Update: An officer was struck by a suspect driving a stolen vehicle @ the BP Gas @ 7 Mile & Telegraph. The officer fired on the suspect, striking him in the stomach. The shot suspect continued driving up Telegraph until he struck and killed a pedestrian/or occupant of a vehicle in the area of 8 Mile & Telegraph. The suspect was conveyed to the hospital and is in critical condition. The officer suffered a knee injury.

Dispatch Audio: Cops Exchange Rounds With Bad Guys On Detroit’s East Side

Tycoon’s Executive Club On 8 Mile

Bang Bang, Bang Bang Bang

Detroit’s East Side: Detroit Police on the east side exchanged gunfire with a couple of bozos in the rear parking lot/security booth of Tycoon’s Executive Club, (Featuring the World’s Finest Showgirls) @ 12210 East 8 Mile Road/Dresden early Friday morning.

Thankfully, no one was hit during the exchange but officers took 2 into custody and recovered the firearm used by the two knuckleheads.

At that time of the morning, around 2:11am, DPD units were working a number of shots fired calls, mainly west of the Tycoon’s incident. The particulars of the shooting are being kept quiet and a call of inquiry to the DPD was met with “If you call us again, we’re calling the police”…..so, the dispatch audio is all you’re going to get.

DPD evidence techs were dispatched to process the scene before the evidence was buried by snowfall.

The audio picks up when the dispatcher acknowledges the “Shots Fired” call by the officers involved.
