Gunfire erupts on Lawson Street in Warren, multiple victims

July 23, 2020 By John Roberts Leave a Comment

Shooters Open Fire At Gathering

Warren, 1047PM: Warren PD responded to reports of a shooting in the 28200 block of Lawson Street; cross of 9 Mile/Stephens, at 1047PM Wednesday evening. Officers were already responding to the area on reports of loud music when the shooting took place.

Originally, the call was for 1 female suffering from a GSW but that quickly changed to 3 with GSW wounds.

Warren PD dispatch audio suggests that a female was shot in leg, a male shot in the back and another male shot in the buttocks area. All victims were conveyed to area hospitals by Warren Fire.

Dispatch audio also suggests that at least 1 person was detained on scene, although his relationship to the shooting is unclear, he may in fact be a victim who “shot back” at the shooters.

The shooters were said to be in a dark vehicle; possibly a newer model Chevrolet Impala, and both the driver and passenger were popping off rounds out of the vehicle towards the house on Lawson. Reports indicate about a 100 people had gathered at the address on Lawson for a party.

Warren PD immediately secured the area and the evidence, described as .223 shell casings in area streets. I’ll update if further information is made available…

Child Shot In Chest

Update: The child has died at Children’s Hospital in Detroit.

Warren: Warren PD received reports of a 10 year old child being shot at around 1:00PM this afternoon at the Warren Manor Apartments, 21500 Dequindre.

Arriving officers discovered the 10 year old with a gunshot wound to the chest. Warren Fire Department quickly stabilized the child and conveyed to Children’s Hospital in Detroit, escorted by multiple Warren PD units.

The circumstances surrounded the shooting are unclear, but Warren PD conveyed some children from the shooting scene to police headquarters…I’m not about to assume anything but….secure your weapons, keep them away from children, full stop.
