Homicide Suspect Fires On Precinct
Detroit’s East Side: A homicide suspect opened fire on DPD’s 5th Precinct earlier Tuesday morning at around 5:15AM. The shooter was wanted in an earlier fatal shooting in the area of Grand River & Warren at 11:18PM Monday evening. Dispatch audio of that incident is also below. The fatal shooting was in conjunction with a domestic violence incident. The suspect was 28 years old, wanted out of Southfield for domestic violence with a history of the same.
The suspect, in a black Lincoln Navigator, fired at least 4 rounds at the precinct from what is described as a high-powered AR type rifle, prompting an immediate lockdown. The suspect was pursued and ended up in a parking lot near the precinct. Scouts from numerous precincts converged on the area, locking it down, closing streets and notifying the nearby Chrysler Plant.
BOLO Issued For Homicide Suspect
Below is the BOLO or Be on the Lookout for the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting on Grand River. The BOLO was issued at 3:37AM.
During the incident, an officer was injured by flying glass, although those injuries were minor and the officer was treated by EMS on scene. The nearby McDonald’s also reported one of their windows was shot out during the incident.
The homicide/shooting suspect remained in his vehicle during the incident.
The homicide/shooting suspect was neutralized/shot & killed by members of Detroit’s SRT at 7:32AM after he exchanged fire with officers.
Local news is reporting this as a grocery store robbery of some sort, and those responsible fired on officers. There was a run at the same time for a number of people B&E’ing a market at Harper & Conner, but this was a completely separate incident in the 9th Precinct and no shots were fired.
