Intervale & Northlawn
Detroit’s West Side (3:14AM) DPD undercover officers came under fire early Tuesday morning in the area of Northlawn & Intervale. The undercover officer called out a priority shots fired call at 3:14AM while chasing the suspect vehicle WB on the Davison approaching the WB I-96.
The suspect vehicle was described as a late model silver/white Chevrolet Tahoe with tinted windows. No plate information was given. The suspect vehicle was occupied by 2 suspects, armed with assault style rifles.
The undercover officer also mentioned two other vehicles involved in the incident, they were reportedly sporting Minnesota plates. There was some confusion on what kind of plates the suspect vehicle had and reports indicated Minnesota plates. That information was later revised to Michigan plates.
Units from the 2nd Precinct/UC vehicles followed the vehicle westbound on the I-96 from the Davison. The suspect vehicle exited the WB I-96 @ Greenfield and proceeded NB on Greenfield at speeds of at least 100MPH. Units lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Greenfield & Outer Dr W.
DPD did think they had the vehicle at Mark Twain & Midland but that vehicle turned out to be not involved. The Michigan State Police also pulled over a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle on the NB I-75 @ 6 Mile, but soon cleared the vehicle as not involved.
No shots took effect during the shooting, the undercover officers vehicle was not struck and he was not injured.
Canvassing officers did find a scene at Northlawn & Intervale, discovering numerous shell casings. The suspect vehicle remains outstanding and the DPD continues its investigation.
