Dispatch Audio: DPD Arson Investigating Early Morning Fire At The Opyum Lounge on 8 Mile

Detroit Fire’s Opyum Lounge Fire

Detroit’s West Side (6:30AM): Detroit Fire was dispatched to 24587 W 8 Mile early this morning on reports of a commercial building fire.

Companies discovered a gasoline can on the roof of the building with fire in the vents. Companies also noted the strong smell of gas on the scene.

Arson investigators were notified by Battalion Chief 4. Dispatch audio is below.

2 Shootings On Detroit’s west side, 3 victims

Detroit’s West Side: Detroit Police responded to two shootings this afternoon on Detroit’s west side, within an hour of each other.

Ohio & Midland

Ohio & Midland (1:22PM) DPD responded to reports of shots fired in the 15700 block of Ohio earlier this afternoon. Arriving officers discovered 2 people shot, it’s unclear at this time if they’re suspects or victims of a crime. A weapon(s) was also recovered by officers.

Detroit EMS Medic’s 18 & 27 conveyed those suffering from gunshot wounds to an area hospital. Officers have been dispatched to the hospital to “sit on” those with a GSW. A K9 has been dispatched to the scene. Conditions of injured unknown.

Puritan & Fairfield Marathon Gas

Detroit’s West Side (2:08PM): Detroit Police were also dispatched to the Marathon Gas Station @ Puritan & Fairfield on reports of a shooting. Arriving officers discovered 1 person with a gunshot wound. A brief description of the suspect was broadcast.

DEMS Medic 20 responded and conveyed the victim to a local hospital.

Male Black, 6′ in height, medium build, wearing either a red or green hoodie, a black coat and a black mask. Reports indicate he was last seen in the alley behind the gas station.

Fatal Shooting on Detroit’s west side, Puritan & Indiana

Man Shot & Killed Monday Morning


Detroit’s West Side (4:45AM): DPD’s 12th Precinct responded to reports of an accident early Monday morning @ Puritan & Indiana. A scout from the 12th was dispatched following a 911 call reporting an accident in front of the caller’s address. The caller stated someone had crashed into their vehicle and were still on scene.

Arriving officers discovered the victim inside the vehicle and at that time, reported the victim was bleeding from the head, ordering Detroit EMS to the scene. Further investigation revealed the victim had been shot.

Detroit EMS Medic 3 arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on scene (Code 7). The description of the vehicle and information on the victim/shooter(s) was not given. There were no shots fired calls in the area at the time. There are a number of Green Light locations in the area with video surveillance. Detroit Police evidence/forensic technicians arrived shortly afterward to process the scene.

Detroit Police are investigating.

Dispatch Audio of Detroit Fire’s Green & Gould Dwelling Fire, Scene of Infamous Photograph.

Dispatch audio of Detroit Fire’s 7th Battalion fighting a fire @ Green & Gould. This was the scene of the infamous photograph taken of firefighters celebrating the retirement of a beloved Fire Chief.

The audio is pretty much self-explanatory. It begins with Detroit Fire companies congratulating a beloved fire chief on his retirement from the Detroit Fire Department. Next in line is companies being dispatched to the scene. Eventually you can hear companies notifying Chief 7 of fire in the basement and attic. Battalion Chief 7 then orders everyone out of the dwelling and has companies go into “Defensive Posture” and “Tower Ops” with Ladder Truck 13.  Dispatch audio via Broadcastify.com

Man Beaten, Kicked & Dragged To Death Following Accident On Detroit’s West Side

Update 8:30PM Monday July 22 2019

“A witness was able to pull the man off of Tyler, and the man even appeared to try to swing at that witness. Then everyone but Tyler walked away as they left him to die. The suspect then ran away with three other males.”

Detroit PD needs assistance in locating 24-year old male suspect, Lawrence Davis, wanted in connection with the fatal assault of a 24-year old male victim from Berkley, Tyler Wingate. Detroit’s West Side: Detroit Police from the 10th Precinct were dispatched to reports of a man down at the intersection of W Davison & Livernois near the Pure Gas Station.

Reports indicate the 24 year old victim, Tyler Wingate was assaulted by the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, Lawrence Davis, after an accident involving the victim’s 2011 Buick Regal.

The suspect is described as a tall black male, shirtless. The suspect fled the scene leaving his 2007 Chevy Impala behind.

Dispatch audio suggests the 24 year old victim was beaten, kicked in the head and dragged by the suspect.

DEMS Medic 10 was dispatched to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
