4 Year Old Shot On Detroit’s East Side

July 27, 2021 By MC911 Leave a Comment

Child Conveyed To Children’s Hospital-Unknown Condition

Detroit’s East Side 3:50PM July 27 2021:

Shooting: DPD’s 7th Precinct Investigating a “GSW” or shooting of a 4 year old child according to dispatch audio. DPD Scout responding to Chene & E Jefferson to look for a scene. It’s appears the child was privately conveyed to Children’s Hospital…or was conveyed to Children’s Hospital from another. DPD scouts are currently at Children’s.

The circumstances or when the shooting took place are unknown to me at this time. The dispatch audio mentioned Harris Park at Chene & Jefferson and I’m not sure that’s correct. “Maheras Park” is further east. Detroit Police are still investigating and gathering facts.

Detroit Police Update

Update via DPD:

Update on 4-year-old shot: We are happy to report the child’s condition has been upgraded and she’s on a path to recovery.

Our investigation has revealed that the shooting occurred inside a residence on 1900 block of Chene Court and not at the park as originally reported.

A witness says the child found an unsecured gun and accidentally shot herself.

The investigation is ongoing.

I want to thank the dedicated Detectives and Evidence Technicians of the Detroit Police Department for their diligent work on this case.
-Interim Chief James White
