Michigan State Police Investigating Another Freeway Shooting

Shots Fired on the 696 In Southfield

Location: E/B I-696 near Evergreen Ave. Southfield:

The Detroit Regional Communication Center received calls of a possible freeway shooting on I 696.  The caller, a 64-year-old male from Southfield, stated he was shot at by the driver of a black SUV between Evergreen Ave. and Southfield Rd. 

Further details revealed this may have been the result of a road rage incident, as a female passenger in the suspect vehicle had thrown a blue water bottle at the callers vehicle prior to the shooting. 

The suspect vehicle ultimately exited the freeway at Coolidge Ave. from E/B I696 when the victim lost sight of them.  The callers vehicle, a Ford F-250 Super Duty, was struck once in the passenger side rear door.  The bullet was retrieved from the vehicle.  There were no reported injuries. The freeway was closed for an evidence search. Investigation is on going.

Fatal Shooting In NW Detroit 8.2.24

1 Dead At Dale & Fenkell

Detroit’s NW, 12:00PM 8.2.24: Detroit Police are working a fatal shooting in the 15300 block of Dale. DPD’s 8th Precinct were initially dispatched to 23900 Fenkell, arriving units found the victim in an alley behind 15319 Dale, reporting the victim was a K-Type (Fatal).

Detroit Fire’s Engine 53 (MFR-Medical First Response) and DEMS Medic 17 were also dispatched.

Thursday Night Shooting On Detroit’s West Side

1 Shot At Barlum & Livernois

Shooting 8:00PM 8.1.24: DPD Scouts responded to Barlum & Livernois on Detroit’s west side after reports of a shooting.

Originally, DFD’s Engine 34 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 2 were dispatched to the above on reports of a male assaulted and bleeding from a head wound.

Engine 34 arrived on scene, established incident command and reported the victim had a gunshot wound, and CPR in progress. DPD Scouts locked up the area and are investigating.

Firefighters from Engine 34 are assisting DEMS Medic 2 with transport.

Body Cam Footage: Arrest of murder suspect in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Kalamazoo Murder Suspect Arrested

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety released body cam footage of an arrest in conjunction with a murder that took place on July 24, 2024

Footage is of suspect DonQuay White, a 23yo from Kalamazoo arrested for a murder that took place on Fox Ridge Drive.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigative Division with the assistance of the Kalamazoo Metro SWAT Team executed search warrants at two residences within the City of Kalamazoo on July 31, 2024. As a result of those searches, 23 year old DonQuay White, a resident of Kalamazoo, was arrested on charges of Open Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm. He was arraigned on August 1, 2024 and denied bond.

Fatal vehicle versus pedestrian I-96 & MLK

Woman Killed After Jumping From Overpass

Fatal Traffic Crash: 08/01/2024 at 7:30 AM Location: W I 96 near MLK – Detroit

The Detroit Regional Communication Center received a call about a pedestrian on the freeway. Troopers were sent to check on the pedestrian and while headed there another caller informed the center that the pedestrian had been struck by a car.

Witnesses on scene reported that the female had jumped from the overpass and was in the right lane when she was struck by a Ford van. The driver of the van stopped after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.

The 39 year old female from Detroit that was struck was pronounced dead on the scene. The on scene investigation is completed and troopers are waiting on medical examiner reports.
