Michigan State Police Pursuit And Fatal I-96 Vehicle Crash

July 11, 2020 By John Roberts Leave a Comment

MSP Pursuit & Fatal Collision On I-96

Pursuit On Detroit’s West Side

Detroit’s West Side: Pursuit/Arrest: On 07/11 at 3:30 PM troopers attempted a traffic stop on Southbound M-10 Fwy and Chicago Blvd for a fraudulent temporary plate. When the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren the driver ran.

The suspect vehicle circled the residential block in the area of Longfellow and the northbound M-10 Service Drive. The suspect driver continued at speeds of 25-40mph in the area.

After the second time around the block, the suspect vehicle struck a curb and street sign and came to a complete stop. The trooper took the driver into custody without incident. The driver indicated he ran because he was scared. He was lodged at the Detroit Detention Center.

While on scene assisting with the arrest, another trooper observed a separate subject from one of his open flee and elude/CCW cases at the scene. He observed the subject walk into a residence near the pursuit scene.

Troopers checked the subjects ID and he had a felony warrant for a different flee and elude case. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Jail.

Fatal Traffic Collision I-94 & Grand River

Fatal Crash: On 7/11 at approximately 12 50 AM troopers from Metro South were dispatched eastbound I-96 and Grand River for a one vehicle troll over crash. Minutes later a second call came in for a two car crash at the same location.

When troopers arrived on scene they observed an unknown sedan on its roof and a Chevy Equinox with heavy front end damage behind the sedan on the right shoulder.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the sedan rolled over from driving through the flooded left lane of I-96 at Grand River and then the Chevy Equinox struck the sedan while it was still on its roof.

The passenger of the sedan was transported by Detroit EMS to a local hospital. The driver of the sedan, a 28 year old female, was killed in the crash. Her next of kin has been notified. Both passengers in the Chevy received non life threading injuies. It appears alcohol may have been a factor for the driver of the Chevy Equinox. Investigation continues.

More Freeway Shootings In Metro Detroit, It’s Getting Downright Dangerous Out There!

July 9, 2020 By John Roberts Leave a Comment

Two Reports Of Vehicles Struck By Gunfire

The MSP reported that in the last couple of days 2 more shootings; or at least vehicles being struck by gunfire, occurred on metro Detroit Freeways.

The Westbound I-94 @ The Lodge

July 8th 2020 5:30-6:00PM

Metro South MSP Post: A driver came into the post and reported that his rented U-haul van had a bullet hole in the top frame of his driver side door. He attempted to make the report with DPD but was advised to report it at the post.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was driving in the left lane of westbound I 94 yesterday between 5:30-6:00PM when he heard a “noise” near the lodge. He checked his vehicle this morning prior to turning it in and observed an apparent bullet hole.

There was no traffic incident that took place on the freeway that the driver is aware of. It is possible the round came from the neighborhood along the freeway. Detectives are currently collecting evidence. Investigation is continuing.

Southfield Freeway (M39) & Ford Rd

Dearborn

On 7/9 Metro South troopers were dispatched to a Taylor address to make contact with a female who reported driving southbound on the Southfield Fwy near Ford Road, heard a noise and thought she ran over something.
She continued to her job in and when she inspected her vehicle she found a bullet hole on the trunk area of her vehicle. The trajectory of the bullet appears to be coming up at an angle suggesting a ricochet.

The driver stated she heard a noise from the rear the same time a black Ford Taurus and red Chysler 300 were observed passing at a high rate of speed with one exiting off at Ford Road.

Anyone who may have witnessed an altercation between those vehicles or have information on this incident are asked to call the Metro South Post at 734.287.5000
