Detroit Police & Fire Discover Body In Burning Vehicle

January 3 2018

Detroit’s NE Side: Detroit Police & Fire Companies discovered a dead body inside a burning GMC Yukon early Wednesday morning.

The DPD and DFD were dispatched to the 10300 block of Outer Drive East at 02:50AM Wednesday morning for a vehicle fire/shots fired call.

The reporting person told police she was awakened by a popping sound on the side of her home and when she looked outside, saw the burning SUV in her driveway.

Ladder Truck 27 from the 7th Battalion and Engine 46 from the 9th Battalion arrived on scene and stretched a red line on the burning Yukon.

The officer of Ladder Truck 27 requested an arson car to the scene due to a victim being inside the burned SUV.

The 9th Precinct’s scout on scene also advised DPD dispatch that he had an “obvious K-Type” in the driver seat of the vehicle.

Investigators have indicated the body belonged to a male and had also been shot.

The white 2007 GMC Yukon came back registered to an address on James Couzens in the City of Eastpointe.

The vehicle had not been reported stolen.

Gunfire In The D, Ringing In The New Year With Leakage

Detroit Rings In The New Year With Gunshot Wounds

January 1, 2018

Detroit: 6 people were shot overnight in the D. Some we tweeted, some we didn’t due to..well, celebrating the New Year.

It was a busy night and early morning in Detroit, the shooting team barely had enough time to investigate 1 shooting before being dispatched to the next. One Detroit Police Officer described the night like this:

Oh yeah it sounded like Baghdad lol

— Woody 🐷👮🏻 (@WingsWoody) January 1, 2018

As the tweet suggests, the Detroit Police brought their officers into their precincts to avoid any unfortunate incidents involving errant lead. The Detroit Fire Department/DEMS did the same.

Celebratory gunfire isn’t just a Detroit thing, it happens in most urban environments. Every year someone visits either the emergency room of a local hospital or the medical examiners office.

Last night, December 31 2017 and early New Years morning witnessed many incidents involving gunfire, falling lead wasn’t the problem, it was aimed gunfire.

Confirmed Shooting: 12026 Morang, 9th Precinct. Shooting scene on the north side of Whitehill, in alley behind apartments.

Perp: MB 5’7″, heavy build, wearing a gray hat, black coat and brown boots. Armed w/a black handgun. Unknown direction of travel. https://t.co/ep9V6HzQDv pic.twitter.com/7R8kK4PjxC

At Quinn & Veach, a 36 year old male was shot in the left bicep and back while talking a stroll on Quinn.

At Gratiot & Eastburn, a 17 year old B/F was shot in the thigh. This incident started off as a shots fired call in the area of Brock & Bringard.

Not Tweeted:

East State Fair & I-75, a 24 year old B/M was shot multiple times, once in the head. He was also privately conveyed to the hospital. In this instance, a white pick-up conveyed the victim to the hospital. Reports indicate the pick-up had several bullets holes and the driver fled the hospital after dropping off the victim. The victim was reportedly in critical condition.

And so it goes….

Happy New Year Detroit.

Triple Shooting Mars Noel Night In Detroit

Noel Night Triple Shooting In Detroit

Detroit Police Dispatch Audio

Edit 0950am December 4 2017: Detroit Police have taken 1 person into custody for the shooting.

Edit December 3 2017: Detroit Police now saying here were 4 victims to last nights shooting @ John R & Farnsworth. People are often privately conveyed to local hospitals in Detroit. Detroit EMS response times used to be horrible, hence the changing victim counts we often see. DEMS response times are no longer an issue, but old habits die hard.

Detroit December 2 2017: Violence once again mars what should have been a peaceful evening in Detroit.

Detroit Police responded to John R & Farnsworth in midtown Detroit on reports of a shooting Saturday evening. The shooting scene is behind the Detroit Institute of the Arts, not the DIA itself.

Shooting: 2 shot at 5200 Woodward. Both suffering GSW’s to the legs, non life-threatening injuries. Both conveyed to the hospital. 3rd Precinct. Midtown #Detroit. #Detroit Institute of the Arts (DIA) https://t.co/FVAb0Allz1

— Motor City 911 (@DetroitScanner) December 3, 2017

Noel night festivities were in full swing when a shooter decided it was a good time to gun down a trio of teens.

All 3 victims suffered gunshot wounds to the legs. 1 17 year old female was conveyed to Detroit Receiving Hospital by a Detroit Police Officer, accompanied by her mother. The other 2 victims, both males in their teens, were conveyed by ambulance. All are recovering in the hospital and in stable condition.

Reports were all over the place as they tend to be in incidents like these, from a shooter inside the DIA to an active shooter outside the DIA. Responding officers eventually sorted the facts from fiction and were able to secure the scene.

Noel Night was cancelled by authorities, Wayne State University was placed on lockdown and eventually the scene was secured, but not without troubles caused by roving bands of teens. The McDonalds on Woodward & Canfield was apparently trashed and fights broke out throughout the area.

Information on the shooting suspect is scarce but sources identify him as a male black. He is not in custody at the time of this writing.

Random or targeted?

No one knows at this point, but it’s rare 3 teens are randomly gunned down in Detroit.

Let’s see how this unfolds. Check back for updates.

And so it goes….
