Wrong Way Driver Collides With Another Vehicle

Casco Township, St Clair County 2:25PM January 3 2022: A wrong way driver travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes struck another vehicle head on, killing both drivers. A child was discovered in the back seat of one of the vehicles, severely injured.

Michigan State Police & St Clair County law enforcement-Fire/EMS dispatched units to the eastbound I-94 near the Adair rest stop on reports of a white car travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes at around 2:30PM Monday afternoon. Dispatch audio soon revised their BOL (Be on the Lookout) to the vehicle striking another head on in the eastbound lanes under the Meldrum overpass.

Responding units reported the vehicles; a white sedan and a dark colored SUV, had heavy front-end damage and all occupants entrapped. Units also reported both drivers were without a pulse. A child was also discovered by responding officers in the back seat of one vehicle. The child; according to dispatch audio, did have a slight pulse but was unconscious with labored breathing. All victims required extrication from the vehicles involved. The child was conveyed to the hospital by Richmond-Lenox EMS. The child’s condition is unknown.

17:46 – The eastbound lanes of the I-94 freeway remains closed at 26 Mile for the Michigan State Police investigation.

CASCO TWP., MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Lapeer Post is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on January 3, 2022 at approximately 2:30 p.m. on I-94 near Meldrum Rd.

Preliminary investigation indicates a wrong-way driver caused a head-on crash that left both drivers dead.

A 25-year-old male from St. Clair entered the eastbound lanes driving westbound in a silver 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze collided with a black 2003 GMC Yukon driven by a 33-year-old female from Casco.

A young child was a passenger in the Yukon and was transported to a local hospital then transferred to a children’s hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit,Richmond Fire Department, Richmond-Lennox EMS, and St. Clair Sheriff’s Office.

14 Year Old Dies In Traffic Accident, Man Sniped Through Rear Window & A Shooting On Detroit’s East Side

Detroit: Detroit Police from the 12th Precinct received reports earlier this morning at around 2:15AM that a victim had been shot on Tracey St @ Norfolk, Detroit’s NW side.

Reports indicated the victim had been shot through a window at the rear of the residence on Tracey. Responding units canvassed the area looking for the bad guys but they had long skedaddled.

Detroit EMS Medic 22 conveyed the shooting victim to Sinai-Grace Hospital. The victim’s condition is unknown.

Non-Fatal Shooting On Detroit’s East Side

Detroit Police were notified by Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe that a gunshot wound victim had shown up at their hospital at around 3:35AM. Subsequent questioning determined the shooting took place @ Coplin & Mack on Detroit’s east side.

Detroit Police evidence techs responded to Coplin & Mack to process the scene. No further information at this time.

14 Year Old Female Dies In West Side Rollover

14YO Dies In West Side Vehicle Accident

A 14 year old female was killed early this morning at around 3:00AM in a vehicle accident @ Capitol & Littlefield on Detroit’s west side. Arriving units found the young girl outside of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, unresponsive. No other vehicles were on the scene.

Detroit EMS Medic 2 conveyed the victim to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. No further information.

Fatal Accident On The I-96 In Livonia

Livonia, Mi: Michigan State Police and Livonia PD handled a fatal crash on  the E/B I-96-Levan last night around 9:00PM.

The crash specifics are still being determined by accident investigators, but 36-year old Christopher Wilfong of Ann Arbor man lost his life in the accident.

The I-96 was closed for several hours while the Michigan State Police and Livonia PD investigated the accident.

Weather last night was rather ugly due to icy precipitation entering the area from the west. Icing on some roads were experienced and a number of traffic accidents were recorded on local freeways and roads.

Fatal Crash On I-94 & Chalmers

Updated: Detroit – 24 November 2018: : At 0315AM Michigan State Police 911 received a call that at E I 94/Chalmers in Detroit there was a serious accident and their is a male laying on the freeway not moving. When troopers arrived they confirmed this was a fatal crash.

The freeway was closed at eastbound at I 94 and Connor until 0843AM while MSP investigated the crash. Crash details are unknown at this time.

Preliminary Investigation revealed that a 34 year old male from Rochester Hills was traveling eastbound on I 94 when he lost control and struck the left shoulder wall. The driver drove to the right lane. A second passenger vehicle traveling in the right lane then crashed into the back of the car causing it to spin and eject the driver.

The 34 year old driver died on scene. His family has been notified. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is continuing. – MSP

UPDATE: Michigan State Police/Metro Detroit: The driver of a Buick passenger car lost control and eastbound I 94 and Chalmers and ended up in the right lane. A Toyota pickup rear ended a Buick passenger car. The driver of the Buick was ejected and pronounced deceased by Detroit EMS.

The driver of the Toyota was suspected of driving while impaired. A breath test was performed and a blood draw pursuant to a search warrant. The Toyota driver was lodged at the DDC (Detroit Detention Center). The BAC was a .17. The freeway was closed for approximately 5 hours.

DDOT Bus Crashes Into Building, Multiple Casualties

Detroit’s NW: Detroit Fire’s Engine 40 & Squad 5 were dispatched to Dexter & Doris at around 315PM on reports of a motor vehicle accident involving a DDOT bus.

Upon arrival, Engine 40 reported a bus into a building, that collapsed, downed power lines and multiple civilian casualties. Engine 40 also notified Squad 5 that use of the JAWS would be required.

Engine 40 advised central dispatch that they required additional Detroit EMS Medics, an EMS supervisor, Senior Chief 203 and Battalion Chief 8.

Engine 40 advised central dispatch that all civilians, including the driver of the bus had been extricated by E40 & Squad 5, but still required Squad 4 on scene.

A vehicle reportedly ran a stop sign and caused the DDOT Bus to leave the roadway and strike the side of Sun Valley Foods warehouse. The bus breached the wall and entered the warehouse.

7 people were injured, 3 critically, 4 with minor injuries. The driver of the bus is listed in critical condition.

Downed power lines were present and a crew from DTE was requested.
