Michigan State Police News Release

Today at about 10:30 AM, Alpena Dispatch received a call from a female later identified as 60 year old Lynne Bever of Linwood. Bever reported that she had fallen through the ice while driving her snowmobile on Long Lake and needed help.

Alpena dispatch immediately send first responders to help. An Alpena MSP Trooper who was about 3 miles away heard the call and hurried to the scene.

Upon arriving, he found the victim in the water about 200 yards off shore. Her boyfriend and his snowmobile were nearby and he was attempting to reach her.

The MSP Trooper attempted to cross the thin ice towards Bever, but found it was too weak to hold him. Additional first responders from Alpena Twp Fire and MSP donned anti-exposure suits and held onto lifeline ropes and began belly-crawling toward the victim.

As they worked to reach the victim, the victim’s boyfriend, his snowmobile, and two first responders fell through the ice. The responders were able to successfully rescue the male victim.

The responders in the anti-exposure suits were able to reach Bever, but were unable to get her out of the water. Responders tried to render aid while she was in the water, attempting to keep her alive while waiting for further resources and equipment.

East Grand Lake Fire Department arrived with their airboat and were finally able to get Bever out of the water, but rescuers found she had gone into cardiac arrest.

She was removed from the water and taken by ambulance to the Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Alpena, where she was pronounced dead. The Alpena Medical Examiner and doctors from the hospital determined the cause of her death to be drowning.

RUN! It’s the Po-Po!

Detroit’s West Side: Two toddlers lead Detroit Police Officer’s from the 12th Precinct on a foot pursuit in Detroit’s west side early this morning.

At 1:38am Friday morning, a 911 caller reported two children, ages 4 and 5, loitering around the Exxon Gas Station at Appoline & W 8 Mile.

Two little girls (4 and 5 years old) were seen outside a gas station at West 8 Mile and Avalon chilling… Scouts now have them spotted near Saint Martin and Meijer. A foot chase has now ensued.

Toddlers Appeared Unarmed But Suspicious

DPD units from the 12th Precinct made the scene shortly after being dispatched and caught up with ‘Thelma & Louise Lite’ at St Martins & Meyers.

Officers attempted to make contact with the toddlers but, like toddlers everywhere, they beat-feet northbound on Meyers towards the World in Action Christian Center.

Louise, distracted by something shiny, stopped and was taken into custody.

Thelma, tired and cranky, gave up shortly afterwards.

Interviewed later, Thelma said “If Louise hadn’t mistaken a piece of aluminum foil for a tiara, we would’ve made it.”

Child Protective Services were apparently notified.

As usual, information presented is gathered from dispatch audio. Facts surrounding the incident may change with further investigation and probably will. Some of the above is pure fiction, but that doesn’t stop some from believing it, it’s the Internet after-all.

Non Fatal Shooting Wabash & Pilgrim

Detroit’s West Side: An interesting story out of Detroit’s west side this evening. According to DPD dispatch audio, officer’s from the 12th Precinct responded a number of times to an address in the 15800 block of Wabash on Tuesday, 12/24/2018.

The calls ranged from a family disturbance of some type to a missing child. Later the same evening at around 8:09PM, Detroit police units of the 12th Precinct responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of Pilgrim, about a block south of the 15800 block of Wabash.

Arriving officers from the 12th Precinct found a 17 year old female with a gunshot wound laying in front of a house on Pilgrim.

Detroit Police dispatch audio suggests the shooting victim named the shooter as ‘Charles’ and he’s driving a blue Honda sedan, last seen southbound on Wabash from Pilgrim.

The victims condition was reported as critical condition.

Whether or not the real story jives with the one I just wrote about, who knows. Things tend to change rather quickly.

Dispatch Audio: Shots Fired At Mumford High School In Detroit – *Crickets*

Detroit – December 18 2018 – 3:37pm: Detroit DPS Police and Detroit Police officers from the 12th Precinct responded to reports of shots fired at Mumford High School on Detroit’s west side Tuesday afternoon.

Officers on scene were told that shots were fired in or near the school by 3 youths, last seen on W McNichols and Ilene, moving in and out of restaurants in the area.

Detroit police officers performed a canvass of the area with unknown results.

No mention of this incident in the local press. As you can imagine, anywhere else in the world this would have forced the media into a frenzy, helicopters and a visit from the governor…

Shootings aren’t unusual in Detroit, maybe that’s the reason why its been ignored. It’s Detroit man, shit happens everyday. It’s just another shooting.

We’re doomed.

Welcome to Detroit.
