“I Have One Through The Windshield.” A Bad Day On Detroit’s Roads

October 24, 2016 By MC911 Leave a Comment

detroit-fireDETROIT October 24, 2016. Detroit streets saw multiple serious motor vehicle collisions today with at least 1 fatality. Earlier this AM, Detroit Police and Fire responded to Grand River & Oakman Blvd on reports of a serious traffic collision. That MVA resulted in 1 death and 1 critical patient. The accident apparently stemmed from a vehicle moving at high speed striking another. The struck vehicles occupant was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the suspected speeding driver was conveyed to the hospital in critical condition.

Later @ 4:20PM, a Detroit Police Officer came upon an accident at Gratiot & Glenfield on Detroit’s east side. The scout advised dispatch that she had “One through the windshield”. The DPD Scout continued to ask for the ETA of the Detroit EMS Medic as injuries to the victim(s) were described later as “very serious”. A Hazmat Level 1 was declared by Detroit Fire’s Engine 50. One of the vehicles involved was an 18 Wheeler and one of its 150 gallon diesel fuel tanks was emptying into nearby sewers. Detroit Fire dispatched Battalion Chief 9 to the scene in addition to DFD’s Hazmat 1 for the Level 1 Hazmat incident.

Multiple Detroit EMS Medic units were also dispatched to the scene. Detroit EMS Medic Units 8, 28 and another were sent to the scene. The conditions of those involved are unknown.

At 5:26PM, a Detroit Police Unit advised dispatch he had a serious motor vehicle accident at Connor & Kenmoor on Detroit’s east side, near the Coleman Young Municipal Airport. Transmissions suggest multiple patients including children. Once again, Detroit EMS dispatched multiple Medic units to the scene. Due to the severity of the accident, the Detroit Police roped off the entire scene. Images from the scene suggest 2 vehicles were involved, including an SUV. Other transmissions suggest at least 6 patients were conveyed to local hospitals. Conditions aren’t immediately available.

5 Suspected Arsons Hit Detroit’s East Side Within Hours

“It’s reminiscent of what we see leading up to Devil’s Night where the weather is good,” said Capt. Mike Nevin of the Detroit Fire Department. “They choose to burn at different times which is hard to police. … I would bet the same person lit these fires today.” There were no reported injuries in the fires, which may have involved unoccupied houses.

“We never call anything vacant until we do the best we can to search what we can,” Nevin said.

The string of fires started around 10 a.m. as crews battled an accidental fire in the 1400 block of Chene. Firefighters were called to a house in the 19000 block of Queen Street, followed by a blaze a mile and a half away in the 14000 block of Tacoma. With a spacing of about 30 minutes between each fire, firefighters were also called to blazes in the area of Gratiot and Fordham, Joann and McNichols and the 13700 block of Liberal, Nevin said. The fires come one day after Mayor Mike Duggan asked for residents to volunteer for Angels’ Night patrols, the city’s anti-arson effort, Oct. 29-31.

Last year there was a record low of 52 fires — 23 of them suspicious — from Oct. 29-31.

Nevin said despite a depletion of manpower Tuesday, crews worked swiftly to put out each fire with no break. A string of arsons fires poses a risk to firefighters and the public, he said.

“Thank God there wasn’t an issue of a rescue,” he said. “There could be a delayed response due to heavy arson in the area. It could have been tragic.”

Anyone that sees suspicious activity is asked to call the Detroit Fire Department’s arson tip line at (313) 628-2900.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

screen-shot-2016-10-11-at-8-50-41-amDETROIT October 8 2016: Yeah, you read that right. A creepy clown was captured by cell phone video clinging to the back of a DDOT Bus. Either the “creepy clown” was late for a murder or he/she just didn’t have the correct change..or both. Who knows? It isn’t immediately clear where the clown was headed to or where the bus was when the creepy clown latched on to it, but does it really matter? It’s a freaking clown hanging off the back of a bus ffs. It isn’t often you see a clown hanging off the back of the bus…You need to know this stuff.
