17 Year Old From Farmington Hills Charged With First Degree Murder

Brandon Butler Accused of Murdering 23 Year Old Detroit Woman

CHARGED: Following an investigation by the Detroit Police Department (DPD), the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Brandon Butler, 17, of Farmington Hills, in connection with the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old woman of Detroit.

It is alleged that an altercation between Butler and the victim escalated, and Butler produced and fired a handgun, fatally wounding the victim, before fleeing the scene.

Butler has been charged with First-Degree Murder and Felony Firearm. DPD investigators will remain involved with this matter and will assist the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office as it prosecutes this case. All suspects are presumed innocent pending further proceedings.

Shooting in the 19100 block of Goulburn

Detroit’s NE Side 9:30PM 7.28.24: DPD’s 9th Precinct is working a shooting in the 19100 block of Goulburn x Lappin. DFD’s Engine 60 (MFR) and EMS also responded. DPD Scouts asked for Engine 60 to pull around asap. Engine 60 was then canceled by scouts after the GSW victim was privately conveyed to a local hospital. EMS was also canceled.

Detroit’s East Side 7:15PM 7.28.24: DPD responded to the 19300 block of Packard x Emery on reports of a shooting. Dispatch audio suggests it may have been a female. A 911 caller reported her cousin had been shot. DFD’s Engine 60 (MFR) and Superior Medic 66 were also dispatched to the scene.

Sturtevant & Lawton in the 10th Precinct

Detroit’s NW Side 10:45PM 7.27.24: Detroit PD’s 10th Precinct are investigating a double shooting in the 2900 block of Sturtevant x Lawton. Arriving scouts discovered 2 people shot at the scene, a male with a GSW to the hand and a female with a GSW to the thigh, according to dispatch audio..

DFD’s Engine 40 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 1 were also dispatched to the scene. No further information at this time.

Critical Shooting On Detroit’s NW Side

Five Points & Frisbee in the 8th Precinct

Detroit’s NW Side, 4:50PM 7.27.24: Shooting: DPD’s 8th Precinct, DFD’s Engine 54 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 4 responded to reports of a shooting at Five Points & Frisbee Saturday afternoon around 4:50PM.

Dispatch audio suggests the GSW victim is a female. A firearm was recovered on scene by 8th Precinct scouts. A neighboring precinct was warned of possible retaliation from a group at the shooting scene.

Firefighters from Engine 54 accompanied DEMS Medic 4 to the hospital due to the severity of the wound(s).
