Detroit Police 11th Precinct investigating a shooting at 7 Mile & Greeley this afternoon, the gunshot wound victim was privately conveyed to Detroit Regional Hospital around 1:30PM. There was a Shot Spotter activation associated with this shooting. No further information.
via MSP’s Second District: On July 18, MSP’s Trooper 2 located a stolen Hyundai traveling on Joy Rd and scouts from the Detroit Police attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle fled from DPD and drove reckless through the city streets and through Southfield. The 2 occupants stopped on Melrose near Greenview in Southfield, fled on foot and were taken into custody in the area of Stahelin & Melrose after a brief foot pursuit.
Detroit’s West Side: Detroit PD’s 2nd Precinct is investigating a shooting earlier Thursday evening in the 13900 block of Sussex on Detroit’s west side. Details on the shooting are unknown. 1 person was conveyed to Sinai-Grace Hospital with a non life threatening gunshot wound.

Today we mourn the loss of beloved Corporal Donny W. Harris, who served with the department for more than 22 years before passing due to an illness. During his tenure, Cpl. Harris served as a Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO) at our DPD 2nd Precinct and within our Special Victims Unit, helping victims of domestic violence.
Cpl. Harris left an indelible mark on members of our department and the community. Our condolences go out to his friends and family during this time.
CHARGED: The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a couple in connection with the death of their 5-year-old son, and abuse of their 3-year-old son.
Shane Shelton, 27, and Valeria Hamilton, 27, have both been charged with one count of felony murder, two counts of first-degree child abuse, one count of torture, and one count of conspiracy to commit torture. Defendant Hamilton is the biological mother of the deceased 5-year-old, and Defendant Shelton is the stepfather.
Note that the charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
