Detroit Police 3rd Precinct Investigating A Shooting On Detroit’s Northend.

Shooting at Woodward & Seward

DPD’s 3rd Precinct is investigating a shooting that occurred this afternoon at Woodward & Seward on Detroit’s Northend. It appears as if 1 person was shot. DPD is also investigating a vehicle and driver in possession of 2 firearms in the parking lot of DRH that may be in conjunction with this shooting.

The victim was privately conveyed to DRH. The victim is telling police he was shot on Seward just west of Woodward. The DPD is also looking for a blue Jeep Cherokee seen fleeing the scene. There is radio traffic suggesting someone was shot in the 100 block of Marston. It’s unknown if this is another victim of this shooting or the same one, dispatch audio is OFTEN unclear on the details.

This may be a double shooting according to dispatch audio.

Detroit Police 11th Precinct investigating a shooting at 7 Mile & Greeley this afternoon, the gunshot wound victim was privately conveyed to Detroit Regional Hospital around 1:30PM. There was a Shot Spotter activation associated with this shooting. No further information.

1 Shot In The 13900 Block Of Sussex

Detroit’s West Side: Detroit PD’s 2nd Precinct is investigating a shooting earlier Thursday evening in the 13900 block of Sussex on Detroit’s west side. Details on the shooting are unknown. 1 person was conveyed to Sinai-Grace Hospital with a non life threatening gunshot wound.

Detroit Police Mourn 22 Year Veteran of the Department

Detroit Police Department January 25 2023:

Today we mourn the loss of beloved Corporal Donny W. Harris, who served with the department for more than 22 years before passing due to an illness. During his tenure, Cpl. Harris served as a Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO) at our DPD 2nd Precinct and within our Special Victims Unit, helping victims of domestic violence.

Cpl. Harris left an indelible mark on members of our department and the community. Our condolences go out to his friends and family during this time.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a couple in connection with the death of their 5-year-old son, and abuse of their 3-year-old son.

‍⚖️CHARGED⚖️: The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a couple in connection with the death of their 5-year-old son, and abuse of their 3-year-old son.

Shane Shelton, 27, and Valeria Hamilton, 27, have both been charged with one count of felony murder, two counts of first-degree child abuse, one count of torture, and one count of conspiracy to commit torture. Defendant Hamilton is the biological mother of the deceased 5-year-old, and Defendant Shelton is the stepfather.

Note that the charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
