Shooting on Detroit’s east side, Springfield & Shoemaker

Detroit’s East Side: DPD’s 5th Precinct responded to reports of a shooting in the 5500 block of Springfield Saturday night at around 10:15PM. Arriving 5th Precinct units discovered 1 victim with a GSW/graze wound, a 36 year old female. DEMS Medic 14 and DEMS Supervisor 1104 were also dispatched to the scene.

Witnesses described a white pickup speeding from the scene, they were able to jot down the license plate number of the vehicle. DPD investigation revealed the plate belonged to a white 2002 GMC Sierra, registered just one block east of the shooting scene on Fairview.

Members of the DPD 5th Precinct IOD or investigative dudes, quickly went to the 5500 block of Fairview, found the truck described by witnesses and arrested a 47 year old man.

Fatal Shooting On Detroit’s East Side, Strasburg & Fairmount

Detroit’s East Side: DPD’s 9th Precinct responded to reports of a person shot in the 20000 block of Strasburg at around 7:20PM. Arriving officers discovered 1 person was shot and initially notified dispatch the victim was deceased. DEMS Medic 15 arrived and conveyed the victim to St John Hospital. The victim was later declared deceased.

DPD is looking for a black Dodge Charger or Challenger. The suspect is described as a Black male, 6′ in height, medium complexion, wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. Two females were seen inside the vehicle with him. The vehicle was last spotted going SB on Strasburg at a high rate of speed.

Dwelling Fire/Explosion On Detroit’s West Side, Multiple Injuries

Detroit’s West Side: Detroit Fire’s 4th Battalion were dispatched to a dwelling fire/house explosion on the 14400 block of Evergreen at around 7:22 PM Saturday night.

Initial reports indicated the house had exploded and there were civilian casualties on the scene with 2 unaccounted for. Once on scene, Battalion Chief 4 notified Central Dispatch that all of the civilians had escaped the flames and everyone was accounted for.

Detroit Fire’s Engine 57 was the first company to arrive and reported a partially collapsed dwelling. Engine 57 reported they were going into a defensive posture due to the explosion and condition of the structure.

Detroit EMS dispatched DEMS Medic 22 to the scene, soon followed by DEMS Medic 7, DEMS Medic 2, DEMS Medic 5 and Superior Medic 47. DEMS supervisor 1105

Battalion Chief 4 also requested MichCon to the scene due to a gas leak on the fire scene. A Fire marshal also responded as well as the city due to the unsafe condition of the dwelling.

Injuries are all over the place at the time of this writing, reports indicate 6 people were injured in the blaze, with injuries ranging from smoke inhalation to 2nd-3rd degree burns. All injured civilians were conveyed to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Battalion Chief 4 reported the fire was out at 8:40PM and the disposition was being left to the officer of Ladder Truck 26.

Companies on Scene:

Engines 57, 54, 53 Ladder Truck 26, Squad 1 and Battalion Chief 4.

DEMS Medics 22, 2, 5 & Superior Medic 47.

Reports also indicate tsome dogs were rescued and “pulled from the rubble” following the explosion by members of the DPD, DFD, BATFE and DTE. The dog(s) were then cared for by members of The Detroit Pit Crew Rescue.

Shots Fired on Leicester Ct, man in critical condition

Detroit (11:15AM): DPD’s 3rd Precinct responded originally to Woodward & Kenilworth early Saturday morning on reports of a person shot near a liquor store. Arriving officers couldn’t find anyone, checking tapes at the liquor store didn’t offer anything of value so officers started to canvass the neighborhood. Canvassing officers eventually found the GSW victim just east of Woodward and in the alley behind Leicester Ct.

The 30 year old victim was conveyed to the hospital by DEMS Medic 1. He’s currently in critical condition.

DPD had 2 different witness accounts of the shooter, first was a white “Lincoln Truck” or “Cadillac” last seen eastbound on Kenilworth, soon revised to be a brown older model 4 door with a female shooter, according to witnesses on Leicester. That vehicle was last seen westbound on Leicester then southbound on Woodward.

Fatal Traffic Accident on Detroit’s west side, W 7 Mile & Telegraph

Detroit’s West Side: A fatal traffic accident involving 2 vehicles occurred at Telegraph & W 7 Mile Friday night at around 9:30PM. Reports from the scene indicate there was 1 K-Type (Fatal) and 3 other patients.

According to police, a blue Saturn was traveling westbound on W 7 Mile when it blew through a red traffic light, striking a black GMC Denali traveling southbound on Telegraph.

3 people were inside the Saturn, the front passenger, a 21 year old female was killed. The driver, a 21 year old male and the 37 year old male rear passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the GMC Denali also sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The accident prompted a response by DTE for downed power lines.

Detroit Police, Detroit Fire’s Engine 59, Squad 1, DEMS Medics 4/17 and DEMS supervisor 1105 responded.
