MCSO Charges 28 Year Old With False Report Of Felony

via Macomb County Sheriff’s Office:

“Swatting” False Report of a Felony

Harrison Township, MI. – On 9/2/21, Macomb County Sheriff’s were led to believe a violent crime was being committed all so that a male could get out of a traffic stop. Both the driver of the vehicle being stopped, and his friend would later be charged with crimes.

At approximately 9:30pm, Macomb deputies made a traffic stop on a 2015 white Dodge Durango at Metro Pkwy and Crocker Blvd. The Durango had no metal plate and was driving without headlights. Deputies made contact with the driver, a black male, 30, out of Harrison Township. The male had a suspended driver’s license and an arrest warrant for fraud. The vehicle was registered to the male’s friend, Tressa Williams, 28, out of Detroit.

In the midst or the traffic stop, deputies were re-routed to a business on Crocker Blvd for a reported armed robbery in progress with two masked males holding an employee at gunpoint. Deputies released the male on scene and headed towards the business on Crocker Blvd. Upon arrival, deputies quickly learned that there was no armed robbery at the business and all of the employees were in good health.

Dispatch was able to ping the phone that made the 911 call to a residential area in Harrison Township. It was noted the phone number of the 911 caller was listed as Tressa Williams. Deputies made contact at the address listed for Williams in Harrison Township; also, where the phone ping was located. The Durango from the above listed traffic stop was located at the address and the male could be seen inside but was
uncooperative, refusing to exit the home.

The Durango was impounded, and a warrant was sought for the male for driving while suspended. Detectives made contact with Williams via phone and were able to determine that she was the caller on the 911 call who had made the false police report.

Both reports were submitted to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and warrants were issued for the male and Williams:

The male
Count 1: Operating – License Suspended, Revoked, Denied (misd)

Tressa Williams
Count 1: False Report of a Felony (felony)

The male is set to be arraigned in the 41-B District Court on 11/15/21 at 9:30am. Williams was arraigned on 10/18/21 in the 41-B District Court and was given a $5,000 personal bond. She is scheduled to return to court on 11/1/21 at 10:30am.

Note: The male’s name will not be released until he is arraigned.
