Suspect Wanted In The Armed Robbery Of Postal Truck
Detroit’s East Side 11:00AM 31 December 2021: An armed robbery of a postal worker occurred earlier Friday morning in the area of Bewick & Edsel Ford Service Drive. The vehicle wanted was described as a white Chevrolet Trailblazer with a plate of EHG 3807. Shortly after information was passed to the DPD’s 9th Precinct, the vehicle was spotted by DPD’s Crime Intel and a 9th Precinct Scout at the BP gas station at Gratiot & Gunston, across the street from the 9th Precinct. The suspect was pumping gas when he was spotted.
The pursuit was initiated, according to dispatch audio, when the scout activated his lights. The suspect fled NB on Gratiot from Gunston.
The vehicle led police officers from multiple agencies through Macomb County until the pursuit was terminated by scouts performing a pit maneuver at Jefferson & Main in New Baltimore. It appears as if DPD’s Air 1 spooled up and assisted ground units during the pursuit. It also appears as if the pursuit never exceeded 60MPH. The suspect was taken into custody at around 11:59AM and the weapon recovered. Below is the dispatch audio captured.
