MSP Troopers and Grand Traverse/Benzie County Deputies Arrest 24-year-old Rafael Diego Rocha from Traverse City Following Domestic Violence Incident

Arrested After Ramming Wife’s Vehicle With Children Inside

Grand Traverse County: On Monday, July 15, 2024, in the early evening, Benzie County Central Dispatch broadcasted an assault in progress. The suspect, who was on parole for Domestic Violence Third Offense, was ramming his car into his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle as they were driving down the roadway. The victim’s vehicle was occupied by three small children.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post responded to the location and the suspect vehicle drove off into hiding. Troopers broadcasted a multi-county BOL for the suspect. They coordinated with local law enforcement units to intercept the suspect. Troopers asked the victim to call the suspect and request he meet her at a local gas station.

The suspect was observed driving towards the gas station. Troopers and deputies from the Grand Traverse County and Benzie County Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle and arrested 24-year-old Rafael Diego Rocha from Traverse City. Rocha was lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail.

Rocha was arraigned this afternoon on the 86th District Court in Grand Traverse County on four counts Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Habitual Offender Third. He remains lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Michigan State Police Trooper 2 Assists Hamtramck PD With Pursuit-Video

4 Boogied From Vehicle, 4 Arrested


On July 17th, 2024 Michigan State Police assisted Hamtramck Police with the pursuit of a stolen Kia Soul at around 10:35PM in the City of Hamtramck. Following a short pursuit, the vehicle came to a stop in the area of Joseph Campau & Faber St in Hamtramck.

4 occupants of the vehicle fled the vehicle, fleeing into the neighborhood. MSP’s Trooper 2 kept its eye on the subjects, eventually leading to all 4 being taken into custody.



On July 17, Trooper 2 was searching for a stolen Kia Soul when they observed the Hamtramck Police Department already pursuing the vehicle. Semi’s Collide On The EB I-96 At Milford Rd

Truck Sideswiped On EB I-96 Monday Evening

Crash Location: E/B I-96 Fwy near S. Hill Rd., Lyon Twp., Oakland County, MI

Preliminary investigation revealed a semi driver was stopped on the narrow right shoulder and right lane due to a flat tire. It was side-swiped by another semi driver causing a large amount of fuel and debris to be strewn across two of the three travel lanes for approximately ¼ mile. The freeway was closed at Milford Rd to allow for the clean-up.

The driver of the parked semi sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The second driver was not hurt.

Michigan State Police Investigate Semi Fire

Grand Rapids MSP: Grand Rapids troopers are on the scene of a semi-truck fire on W/B I-96 near 36th. Thankfully the driver was able to safely exit the vehicle. The right lane is closed but traffic is able to get through the left lane. An alternate route is recommended until clean-up is done.

DISPATCH AUDIO: Michigan State Police Officer Involved Shooting, Detroit’s West Side

Suspect Shoots at MSP’s Trooper 2

Detroit 730PM 1/24/2023: Michigan State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 reported having a green laser pointed at them from a window of a residence in the 12800 block of Terry St at around 7:30 PM Tuesday evening. Trooper 2 asked for assistance from MSP Troopers. As ground units were making the scene, Trooper 2 reported the subject appeared to be armed with a long gun, then started firing on the helicopter.

Arriving Troopers arrived on scene, located the suspect and the officer involved shooting occurred. The suspect was reported down. The weapon was either in the hands of the suspect or very close by when he fell.

DEMS Medic 27 was dispatched to the scene and staged nearby.

MSP Troopers secured the scene while gathering assets to approach and secure not only the suspect but the residence where the suspect was located. Troopers began their call-outs or announcements in case there were other occupants in the house at around 755PM. Trooper 2 advised that at no time during the incident did they notice any movement from other than the suspect and a dog on scene.

Detroit Police’s 2nd Precinct + responded but were prevented from entering the scene, tasked with shutting down the area and securing the perimeter, closing down EB & WB Tyler from Greenfield to Grand River.

The suspect and residence was soon cleared by MSP’s SRT and DEMS Medic 27 pulled around to the scene, declaring the suspect deceased. Trooper 2 returned to base once the scene was secured and performed inspections to see if they had been hit by any of the rounds fired by the suspect.

Officer Involved Shooting: 01/24/23, at 7:30 PM Location: 12857 Terry St., Detroit, MI. 

The Detroit Regional Communication Center was notified by Trooper 2 (on patrol in the City of Detroit) that they were being hit by a green laser. The suspect was shining the laser from the second story of the address. Moments later, Trooper 2 advised that they were now being shot at from the same location. Troopers from the Meteo South post responded and approached the home on foot. The suspect came out of the home and started firing at which time trooper (s) returned fire. The male suspect has died on scene. Members of the Homicide Task Force have responded and are investigating. More information will be released as the investigation continues.

Officer Involved Shooting Update:
Members of the joint homicide task force are continuing their investigation in to the shooting involving two state troopers from the Metro South Post. The suspect has been identified as a 33 year old male from Lincoln Park. Pending any further information, it has been determined the suspect was staying in the abandoned home on Terry. Five firearms were recovered from the home and one was recovered from him. Currently, detectives have not been able to determine a motive. There were no other people in the home at the time of the shooting.There were no injuries to troopers or members of the public. Trooper Two (Helicopter) was not hit in the incident.

OIS Michigan State Police: MSP Troopers have been involved in an OIS in the 12800 block of Terry x Tyler. The suspect is down, DPD scouts also responding. It doesn’t appear as if any Troopers have been injured.
