Traffic Collision Ends In Gunfire
Detroit’s West Side (2:00AM): DPD’s 10th Precinct along with other Detroit Police tactical units responded to Livernois and Beechton at around 2:00AM Monday morning on reports of shots fired and a possible shooting.
Double Shooting On The West Side
Arriving units found 2 suffering multiple GSW’s, a 19 year old with GSW’s to both legs and the other; a 20 year old, with 2 GSW’s to the neck, reported initially as GSW’s to the chest.
The incident occurred following a traffic collision at Livernois & Beechton involving the victims vehicle and a white Chevrolet Trailblazer. An argument between the occupants of the 2 vehicles ensued and at least one occupant of the Trailblazer fired shots, striking the 19 and 20 year old males.
“Tell Henry Ford We’re Coming In HOT!”
The critically wounded victim was conveyed to Henry Ford Hospital by 10th Precinct Scout 10-2. DEMS Medic 2 was dispatched to the scene and conveyed 1 victim with leg wounds to Henry Ford Hospital.
Dispatch audio suggests someone in the crowd on scene may have fired shots from a rifle at the suspects, although that isn’t confirmed.
Late Sunday evening, units were advised to avoid the area around Oakman and Grand River due to about 2,000 vehicles gathering in the area. This area in the 10th Precinct is one of many locations people to tend to gather, drag race, stunt drive and party.
Update: A source tells me that during this incident, some in the crowd attempted to “circle a 2nd or 4th Precinct Scout Car with gasoline”. They were unsuccessful.
