Excessive Speed Is A Factor~Michigan State Police

via MSP: On 7/30 at 9:30 AM troopers responded to a serious motorcycle crash on the Wyoming exit ramp from southbound Lodge. Preliminary investigation revealed the the driver of a sport bike was southbound Lodge exiting to Wyoming.

The driver did not negotiate the curve and went airborne/straight crashing into the side of the hill. The driver was thrown from his motorcycle into a tree. Excessive speed is a factor.

The time of the crash appears to be sometime overnight judging by evidence on scene. The driver was not wearing a helmet.

Troopers are notifying next of kin. The driver was turned over to the ME office pending autopsy. Pends ME report.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash On The WB I-96 & Southfield Freeway

Motorcycle Strikes Wall-Thrown

Fatal Crash: On 07/12 at approximately 5 55 AM, troopers were dispatched to westbound I-96 Express at Southfield Fwy for a body in the middle of the road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle rider was driving at a high rate of speed on westbound I-96 Express approaching the Southfield Freeway. The male rider lost control of the motorcycle on the ramp to Southfield Fwy and struck the wall.

The rider became separated from the motorcycle, went over the side of the bridge and landed down on the westbound local lanes.

He was pronounced dead on the scene. Next of kin have not been notified. Excessive speed is a factor. Investigation continues.
