Critical Injury Motorcycle Crash In Dover Township
via Michigan State Police Monroe Post: On July 28, 2021, at approximately 5:55PM, troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to a two vehicle traffic crash at Morey Highway near Haley Rd in Dover Township. From evidence at the scene and witness statements, the following sequence of events were determined.
A semi-truck pulling a dump trailer was travelling southbound on Morey Rd and preparing to turn east on Haley Rd. A Harley Davidson motorcycle; driven by a 20 year old male, was travelling behind the semi-truck and failed to yield to the truck as it slowed down.
The motorcycle then struck the semi-truck’s trailer causing the motorcycle to veer off the road into a ditch and subsequently being ejected from the vehicle. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to Allegiance Hospital in Jackson Michigan where he remains in critical condition.
There were no other passengers on the motorcycle and the truck driver was not injured. Neither drugs or alcohol are suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Michigan State Police Troopers were assisted on scene by the Morenci Police Department, the Hudson Police Department, the Lenawee Sheriff’s Office, the Hudson Fire Department and the Clayton Fire Department.
