Triple Shooting on Detroit’s East Side

3 Shot at Marx & E Winchester 1 Fatally

Triple Shooting (1 Fatal, 2 Non-Fatal):
January 21, 2026 8:10PM: Detroit Police 11th Precinct responded to the 20400 block of Marx near E. Winchester on reports of two individuals shot. Detroit EMS Medics 14 and 65, DEMS Supervisor 1107, and Detroit Fire Department’s Squad 5 also responded.

Upon arrival, an 11th Precinct officer reported one victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers canvassed the area for a second victim as Medic 65 approached the scene. DFD Squad 5 later confirmed two gunshot victims.

Both victims were conveyed by EMS, one reported to be ambulatory, the other non-ambulatory. DFD Squad 5 assisted EMS with transport.

A third victim was announced later, also a non fatal.

Detroit Police Evidence Technicians were dispatched to process the scene of a triple shooting resulting in one fatality and two non-fatal gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Detroit’s east side.

Gang-Related Narcotics Bust-Detroit Police

Detroit – January 16, 2026

On January 16, 2026, officers from three Detroit Police units conducted a coordinated narcotics enforcement operation in the 17000 block of Hull Street and the 18000 block of Cardoni Street, Detroit’s East Side in the 11th Precinct. Both locations were identified as being operated by a known gang.

As a result of the operation, three felony arrests were made. Officers recovered a significant quantity of narcotics, firearms, and cash, including:

  • 27,629 grams of marijuana
  • 101 Xanax pills
  • 350 oxycodone pills
  • 354 fentanyl pills
  • 22 bottles of promethazine
  • One mason jar containing marijuana wax
  • $14,825 in U.S. currency
  • One handgun
  • One SKS-style rifle

The estimated total street value of the seized narcotics and firearms is approximately $172,465.

Detroit Police commend the outstanding work and collaboration of the 11th Precinct Special Operations Unit, Gang Intelligence Unit, and Traffic Enforcement Unit, whose joint efforts led to the successful outcome of this operation.

Detroit Police Investigate Death of a Child

2 Year Old Dies in NW Detroit

Death of a Child: Detroit Police 12th Precinct is investigating the death of a 2-year-old child.

Officers were dispatched at 1:19 a.m. on January 21 2026 to a residence near McNichols and Wyoming on a report of a child not breathing. Detroit EMS Medic 22 and a DEMS Supervisor 1105 also responded to reports of a child, age unknown at the time, in cardiac arrest. Medic 22 transported the child to Sinai-Grace Hospital.

12th Precinct officers at the hospital reported the child’s time of death at 1:53 a.m. Detroit Police Evidence Technicians were dispatched at 2:55 a.m. to process both scenes, Sinai-Grace Hospital and the residence for investigators. No additional information is available at this time.

Non Fatal Shooting in NW Detroit

Beaverland & Puritan

Shooting: #DetroitPolice 8th Precinct investigating a shooting at Beaverland & Puritan.

Officers were dispatched around 2:34 PM after ShotSpotter detected multiple gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, a female 911 caller reported she was struck in the arm after a bullet entered her bedroom window.

Two vehicles were observed fleeing the area: an older model Saturn SUV and a black Chrysler 200 with dark tint.

EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with a non-fatal gunshot wound. The investigation remains ongoing.

Non Fatal Shooting on Detroit’s West Side

Maplelawn & Griggs

Shooting: At approximately 2:04 a.m., Detroit Police 2nd Precinct officers responded to the 10100 block of Maplelawn on reports of multiple shots being fired and screaming, per a 911 caller. Around the same time, ShotSpotter detected multiple gunshots in the 8600 block of Beechdale, just north of Maplelawn.

A subsequent 911 call reported that a male had been shot in the arm and back. Responding officers located one Black male victim suffering from two gunshot wounds to the arm and buttocks.

The suspect was described as a tall Black male driving a white Dodge Avenger, reportedly with a child inside the vehicle, last seen traveling westbound on Maplelawn.

DEMS Medic 10 responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

At approximately 3:08 a.m., a woman called 911 from the 15400 block of Littlefield (12th Precinct in NW Detroit), reporting that her children’s stepfather, described as a 33–34-year-old Black male, had taken her children and stated he had just shot someone on Maplelawn.

The suspect fled to the 100 block of Sears in Highland Park, where officers took him into custody at approximately 3:20 a.m. Police recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting and secured the vehicle and the children.

Officers confirmed the children were safe and determined there was no kidnapping involved. Officers remained on scene until the parents arrived and took custody of the children.

The suspect was transported to the Detroit Detention Center. The incident remains under investigation. Non Fatal Shooting.
