Detroit Gang Members Plead Guilty to Racketeering Charges

Detroit Gang Members Plead Guilty

Two members, including the top leader, of the Detroit branch of the Rollin 60s Crips street gang pleaded guilty yesterday to various racketeering and firearms offenses based on their roles in gang-related murders, shootings, and drug distribution.

The guilty pleas are the result of the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and the community to reduce homicide and other violent crime under the Detroit One program, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel L. Lemisch.

Joining in the announcement was S. Robin Shoemaker, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, David P. Gelios, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Chief James Craig of the Detroit Police Department.

According to the indictment, the Rollin’ 60s Crips is a national street gang founded in Los Angeles, California, in the mid-1970s. In 2008, Jerome Hamilton, who pleaded guilty yesterday, started a Detroit line of the Rollin 60s, which now boasts approximately 150 members and who operated primarily on the west side of Detroit in the vicinity of Seven Mile and Tracey.

The Rollin 60s Detroit chapter is a violent organization responsible for numerous assaults, robberies, carjackings and the unlawful possession and trafficking of firearms and narcotics in and around the Detroit metropolitan area over the last nine years.

The gang uses violence as a means of retribution for acts done by rival gang members, to intimidate witnesses, and as a means for individuals to maintain or advance their position within the gang.

The leader, Jerome Hamilton, 24, of Southfield, pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence causing death.

As part of the underlying racketeering activity, Hamilton took responsibility for the August 8, 2011 homicide of Kionte Atkins during a drive-by shooting and being involved in the distribution of marijuana as part of his membership with the Rollin 60s Crips. plea agreement calls for a sentence of 30 to 35 years in prison.

Another gang member, Roderek Perry, 22, of Detroit, also pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy, assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, and use and carry of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

According to his plea documents, Perry was a member of the Rollin 60s Crips from 2011 to 2016. Perry admitted to participating in the drive-by shooting of Kionte Atkins on August 8, 2011, as well as a June 20, 2012 attempted robbery that left Perry’s fellow gang member dead after Perry inadvertently killed him during the robbery.

In addition, Perry sold narcotics to fund activities of the gang. Perry’s plea agreement calls for a sentence of 30 to 35 years in prison.

“Violence in our communities will not be tolerated and this investigation should serve as a warning to others threatening the safety of our citizens,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge Robin Shoemaker. “ATF will continue to partner with our law enforcement partners to protect our neighborhoods from violent organized street gangs.”

“Violent Gangs should have no place or acceptance in our communities. It should be clear from today’s outcome that gang members cannot avoid responsibility for their crimes and law enforcement will not stop going after them,” said David P. Gelios, Special Agent in Charge, Detroit Division of the FBI.

Hamilton and Perry are the tenth and eleventh members of the Rollin 60s Crips to plead guilty in this investigation.

Other Rollin 60s Crips members have pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy for acts involving carjackings, armed robberies, firebombing, unarmed robberies, and distributing narcotics on behalf of the gang. Those members are:

– Darriyon Mills, 25, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence;

– Jonathan Barber, 25, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy;

– Deaires Foster, 23, of Irondale, Alabama, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy;

– Timothy Price, 27, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy;

– Sadeisha Johns, 32, of West Bloomfield, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy;

– Soumo Kennedy, 23, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy;

– Brandon Kennedy, 23, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy;

– Charles Anthony Smith, 32, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy; and

– Tre Tigner, 23, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy.

Three other alleged members of the gang are scheduled to begin trial on July 11, 2017, before Chief Judge Denise Page Hood.

The case is being investigated by the ATF’s Comprehensive Violence Reduction Program, which includes representatives of the Detroit Police, Michigan State Police, and Michigan Department of Corrections, in coordination with the FBI Violent Crime Task Force, and Detroit Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Eaton Brown and Shane Cralle.

Triple Shooting On Detroit’s Northwest Side

Developing: Detroit police are investigating a triple shooting that left 1 man dead and 2 seriously wounded on Detroit’s northwest side late Wednesday evening.

Detroit Police Dispatch Audio

The shooting occurred at the Valero gas station, 20800 W 7 Mile Rd at around 11:40PM.

The Detroit police were called to the scene for a report of shots fired but found only a pile of freshly fired shell casings, an old lotto ticket and a used condom.

Details are a bit sketchy but it appears as if the 3 victims were privately conveyed to Sinai-Grace Hospital by an unidentified man .

That unidentified man turned on his heels and ran for the hills after dumping the bleeding three amigos at the hospital.

Police say a gaggle of men were sitting inside a Chevrolet Uplander at the Valero discussing religions role in flower arranging according to sources, when two dudes emerged from a beauty salon next door.

One of those well groomed men was armed with a high powered rifle.

Rounds were fired into the van and 3 were struck by bullets, two 21 year olds and an older, much wiser 31 year old.

One of the 21 year olds died. The other 21 year old is being treated for a GSW to the brain-bucket and is in stable condition.

The 31 year old is just glad he’s shorter than the other 2. He’s being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating whether this was a deliberate attack or just a unfortunate misfire in the direction of the Chevrolet Uplander.

Surveillance footage from the Valero is in the hands of the investigators.

Lyft Driver Shot At On Detroit’s East Side

May 2, 2017 By Motor City 911 Leave a Comment

There’s a buttload of dangerous jobs in Detroit. 8 police officers have been killed or wounded since September of 2016, Detroit firefighters and medics are routinely attacked, gas stations attendants; well, we won’t even go there, and the job of being a child in Detroit is extremely hazardous.

Add Lyft driver to that keraaazy job lumped into the category of taxi drivers in Detroit.

A Lyft driver picked up a couple of Detroit’s finest Friday evening on the 28th of March.

The Lyft driver, sensing something was wrong, requested the upstanding but often misunderstood thugs to leave his vehicle.

The incident occurred on Lafayette & Chene in the beautiful eastern side of Detroit, just outside the stunning backdrop of downtown Detroit.

Now, the really crazy part is the driver apparently left the vehicle in an attempt to, I don’t know, confront them about some slight I guess?

I dunno.

In Detroit, you don’t confront unless you’re adequately strapped and know what you’re doing.

The obvious happened and the Lyft driver was fired on by the slack-jawed dirtbags.

Maybe you recognize the bad guys, maybe you don’t. If you do, call the PD if you’re done with this kind of nonsense, or don’t.

Welcome to Detroit.

Shooting On Detroit’s West Side Leads To Fatal Collision

Detroit Police Dispatch Audio

A shooting on Detroit’s west side lead to a fatal traffic collision at Grand River & Schaefer early Tuesday morning. Detroit police responded to reports of a shooting on the 14000 block of Northlawn this morning at 7:25AM.

Police from the 10th Precinct were called to the scene following a 911 call describing a man armed with a shotgun shooting inside and outside the residence on Northlawn.

10th Precinct Unit 10-3 soon spotted the suspect, identified as 34 year old Dante Lindsay, driving a green 2008 Chevrolet Uplander at Davison & Wyoming.

The audio suggests Unit 10-3 had activated lights and siren at that point.

The above audio has a lot of gaps in the transmissions, but a supervisor soon asked for speed & conditions present during the pursuit.

Radio transmissions suggest the pursuit was then terminated by supervisors.

A few minutes later, another unit had located the suspects vehicle traveling south on Schaefer from Schoolcraft in the 2nd Precinct, notifiying dispatch they were following the suspects vehicle but had not activated lights or siren.

The suspects vehicle continued south on Schaefer until striking another vehicle between Green River & the I-96 Service Drive (Jeffries Freeway).

Units on the scene notified dispatch that 1 suspect was in custody and another down, possibly a “k-type (Fatal).
