Lansing family discovers treasure, Michigan State Police save the day.

October 25, 2021 By Motor City 911 Leave a Comment

WW1 Artillery Shell Hides Secret

MSP Bomb Squad assisted the Lansing Police over the weekend at a residence. Subjects cleaning out a family members house came across what they believed to be a live ammunition round and called police. Bomb squad conducted an x-ray and determined the round was not live according to the Michigan State Police.

Upon further examination, it was discovered this was a WW1 round containing a hidden treasure of coins and bills ranging from the 1800’s and early 1900’s. The non-live round was turned over to the bomb squad and treasure left with family.

Woo Hoo!

US Armed Forces Veteran & Charity Organizer Needs Help

Okay, I don’t do this…not since I created a GoFundMe for Charles as some of you might remember….but this is a longtime supporter and follower of the page. I’m making an exception…She’s a veteran like me. Brenda is in need of help, she’s a veteran of the US Armed Forces, a supporter of the military and first responders and a charity organizer for both. Brenda is having issues and is asking me to seek help from others.

Asking for help from others is foreign to Brenda, she’s usually the one offering help. Brenda is from Livonia and currently lives in Tennessee. She’s recently suffered some serious medical issues and at the same time, lost her transportation due to mechanical issues. Transportation to and from medical appointments at the VA is cost prohibitive without a working vehicle. If you can find it in your heart to help Brenda, that would be incredibly awesome, if not, if you would please share this GoFundMe account with friends. Brenda has been; as I said, a member of this community for a very long time.

Thanks, John Roberts

911 Audio: Macomb County Sheriff’s Office charges Harrison Township woman over “Swatting Call”

October 18, 2021 By Motor City 911 Leave a Comment

MCSO Charges 28 Year Old With False Report Of Felony

via Macomb County Sheriff’s Office:

“Swatting” False Report of a Felony

Harrison Township, MI. – On 9/2/21, Macomb County Sheriff’s were led to believe a violent crime was being committed all so that a male could get out of a traffic stop. Both the driver of the vehicle being stopped, and his friend would later be charged with crimes.

At approximately 9:30pm, Macomb deputies made a traffic stop on a 2015 white Dodge Durango at Metro Pkwy and Crocker Blvd. The Durango had no metal plate and was driving without headlights. Deputies made contact with the driver, a black male, 30, out of Harrison Township. The male had a suspended driver’s license and an arrest warrant for fraud. The vehicle was registered to the male’s friend, Tressa Williams, 28, out of Detroit.

In the midst or the traffic stop, deputies were re-routed to a business on Crocker Blvd for a reported armed robbery in progress with two masked males holding an employee at gunpoint. Deputies released the male on scene and headed towards the business on Crocker Blvd. Upon arrival, deputies quickly learned that there was no armed robbery at the business and all of the employees were in good health.

Dispatch was able to ping the phone that made the 911 call to a residential area in Harrison Township. It was noted the phone number of the 911 caller was listed as Tressa Williams. Deputies made contact at the address listed for Williams in Harrison Township; also, where the phone ping was located. The Durango from the above listed traffic stop was located at the address and the male could be seen inside but was
uncooperative, refusing to exit the home.

The Durango was impounded, and a warrant was sought for the male for driving while suspended. Detectives made contact with Williams via phone and were able to determine that she was the caller on the 911 call who had made the false police report.

Both reports were submitted to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and warrants were issued for the male and Williams:

The male
Count 1: Operating – License Suspended, Revoked, Denied (misd)

Tressa Williams
Count 1: False Report of a Felony (felony)

The male is set to be arraigned in the 41-B District Court on 11/15/21 at 9:30am. Williams was arraigned on 10/18/21 in the 41-B District Court and was given a $5,000 personal bond. She is scheduled to return to court on 11/1/21 at 10:30am.

Note: The male’s name will not be released until he is arraigned.

Michigan Air Guard to make history with landing exercise near Alpena

The Michigan National Guard, in coordination with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and local partners, plans to close a portion of Michigan State Highway M-32 for five hours on August 5 to test its ability to land aircraft on roadways designed for cars and trucks.

The Michigan Air National Guard’s 127th Wing, Selfridge Air National Guard Base; the Air Force’s 355th Wing, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona; and, the Air Force Special Operations Command, Duke Field, Florida, will land four A-10 aircraft and two C-146 aircraft on a closed-off portion of the road near the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center to demonstrate how active duty and reserve-component units can integrate to project combat airpower in austere environments.

An A-10 Thunderbolt II from the 107th Fighter Squadron, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., fires its primary weapon, the 30-millimeter GAU-8 Gatling Gun on community day during Northern Strike 20 at Camp Grayling, part of the National All-Domain Warfighting Center in Northern Michigan during Northern Strike 20, July 28, 2020. Northern Strike is critically important to the local economy in Grayling and Alpena. It brings an average of 6000-7000 people from 20 states and seven coalition countries to Northern Michigan annually. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt. David Kujawa)

This landing operation is part of the annual multi-national, large-scale military training event, Exercise Northern Strike, hosted by the Michigan National Guard at the National All Domain Warfighting Center (NADWC), which encompasses the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center and Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center.

“This is believed to be the first time in history that modern Air Force aircraft have intentionally landed on a civilian roadway on U.S. soil,” said U.S. Air Force Col. James Rossi, Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center commander. “Our efforts are focused on our ability to train the warfighter in any environment across the continuum so our nation can compete, deter, and win today and tomorrow.”

A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft were specifically designed to be able to operate from an austere location and have exercised the ability to do so in the past in conjunction with NATO partners. In June 2018, A-10s from the Michigan Air National Guard conducted highway landings in Estonia as part of the multinational exercise Saber Strike.

The Air Force is shifting its operations concepts to project power through Agile Combat Employment (ACE) and has been applying ACE tactics to train and sustain its agility. Dynamic exercises like the highway landing during Northern Strike demonstrates the Air Force’s ability to deploy rapidly from anywhere, at any time, which is a critical edge the Air Force maintains over its adversaries.

“This year’s Northern Strike exercise includes testing the rapid insertion of an Air Expeditionary Wing (AEW) into a bare-base environment when the 127th Wing from Selfridge (ANBG) deploys up to the Alpena CRTC,” said U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Bryan Teff, Michigan Air National Guard adjutant general for air. “They will establish logistics and communications in order to receive follow-on forces, generate mission employment including the austere landing on M-32, and project combat power across all domains.”

“Michigan’s NADWC is uniquely postured to provide ample training airspace and facilities to accommodate training for the future high-end fight,” said Teff. “Michigan is integral to the joint fight and future warfighter. The joint force cannot execute without training as we fight.”

The NADWC facilitates Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) service concepts including Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) and Joint All Domain Operations (JADO) throu1gh joint service and multi-domain events such as Northern Strike, Winter Strike, Electromagnetic Spectrum Training/Electronic Warfare (EMS/EW), and small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)/Counter sUAS training. With more than 148,000 acres of maneuver space and 17,000 miles of special use airspace, Michigan’s NADWC builds readiness capacity for all warfighting functions in a contested multi-domain training environment that enables combined joint integration at echelon.

To facilitate the exercise, MDOT will close M-32 from east of Herron Road to west of King Settlement Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 5. During the closure, traffic will be detoured on M-65, Werth Road, US-23 and Ripley Street. This closure will be posted on MDOT’s travel information website and detour route signs will help guide travelers through the area. Portable changeable message boards will be posted leading up to the date of the closure as well.

Electrical power will be temporarily disconnected to residences immediately surrounding the landing area between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Air Force personnel will be in direct contact with those homes affected by the power outage and request residents to contact their utility company for backup plans if necessary.

“On behalf of the entire CRTC team, I’d like to extend our gratitude for the outstanding support we enjoy from our civil partners and the local community. Without them, this historic training event would not be possible,” said Col. Rossi. “This is only made possible by the unwavering support of the community members, the unmatched airspace that northern Michigan provides, as well as the support of community leaders, business and other support agencies.”
