Early Morning Fire Injures 4 In Detroit’s West Side.

Detroit— An early-morning fire at a two-family home on Detroit’s west side forced a teenage boy to jump from a second story window Friday, fire officials said.

The fire was reported around 3:40 a.m. on the 2200 block of West Euclid Avenue.

The 13-year-old boy, along with his 5-day-old sibling, 34-year-old mother and a 19-year-old woman all suffered smoke inhalation and were hospitalized, Detroit Deputy Fire Commissioner David Fornell said.

The teenage boy also sustained lacerations to his arm from the jump.

Three residents in the first floor unit of the house escaped unharmed.

Fornell said the fire is believed to have started in the second floor kitchen but it remains under investigation.

“It appears that the fire was confined to the kitchen area,” Fornell said

Closed Victory Inn Burns On Detroit’s West Side

Detroit: The monstrously notorious Victory Inn @ 9430 Michigan in Detroit’s west side mysteriously burned last night, twice.

The scene of a recent raid conducted by multiple agencies at the hotel brought to light a drug/prostitution and human trafficking operation ran from the hotel by a gaggle of career criminals from Detroit.

A search of @DetroitScanner will yield a boatload of results when it comes to the Victory Inn, including a Detroit PD OIS. The place is/was basically a verifiable shithole.

Last night, Detroit Fire’s 5th & 7th Battalions took on Victory Inn twice. A fire was reported at 11:00PM. Detroit Fire companies battled the blaze for around 2 hours, and returned at around 2:00AM for a rekindle.

Ionia DPS Crash Caught On Dash Cam

Patrol Car Accident 3-13-17

Ionia DPS: Ionia DPS patrol car video / audio of the accident on March 13th involving our patrol car.

The impact of the crash moved the camera so that it pointed up, but the audio captured the aftermath of the incident.

The investigation by MSP revealed that our patrol car was doing 21 mph at time of impact, this was from the data pulled from the Electronic Control Module (ECM) by a Specialist from MSP.

Our insurance carrier deemed the patrol car a total loss late last week.

MSP reviewing video of crash involving Ionia DPS, civilian Monday

By Karen Bota / karen.bota@sentinel-standard.com

IONIA — The Michigan State Police-Lakeview Post is reviewing video footage in its investigation of a collision involving a public safety patrol car and a civilian vehicle at 9:37 p.m. Monday night.

Ionia Department of Public Safety Officer Ben Fryc had turned left from westbound West Washington Street and was heading southbound on Dexter Street when a northbound pickup truck failed to yield the right of way, according to IDPS Deputy Director John Odette. The driver attempted to turn into the driveway of the Marathon gas station in front of the patrol car, and Fryc struck the passenger side of the truck.

Odette said MSP was called in to investigate because this was an officer-involved accident and the department does not investigate incidents involving its own officers. The crash was captured on the officer’s in-car video camera.

IDPS personnel removed the truck’s passenger door to extricate a passenger from the vehicle, and she was transported by Life EMS to Sparrow Ionia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Neither the driver of the truck nor Fryc were injured. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, Odette said.

Fryc had been dispatched to take a non-priority complaint in the 600 block of West Main Street when the crash occurred, said Odette. He was not running in emergency mode.

Fryc joined IDPS in October 2015. He has had no incidents prior to this accident, Odette said.

Body Discovered On Fire Scene Is Missing Detroit Man

Dispatch Audio

Detroit’s West Side-6th Precinct: 1 of 2 bodies found last night by companies of the Detroit Fire Department following a small fire on Detroit’s west side has been identified.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office says the man was identified as 26-year-old Andy Maldonado of Detroit.

Update: Mariah Rasnick was identified as the other body discovered. She died of multiple gunshot wounds. Gang activity may be a contributing factors in the death of Maldonado & Rasnick.

Detroit Fire’s 2nd Battalion found the 2 bodies after extinguishing a small fire at a vacant dwelling  on Mettetal Street.

Family members say Maldonado and his girlfriend Mariah Rasnick went missing last week. They searched for them on their own, but did not file a missing persons report.

Family members turned to social media asking for help finding them. They said the couple had last been seen on Saturday.  Someone set their apartment at Central and Lane in Southwest Detroit on fire early Sunday morning. Their burned out van was found nearby. (via @WXYZ)
