Double Shooting On Detroit’s East Side Leaves One Dead

There was a double shooting on Detroit’s east side that left 1 dead early Friday morning. Detroit Police from the 9th Precinct received a couple of reports of shots fired in the 18900 block of Albion, north of Eastwood at around 1:55AM Friday morning.

Witnesses reported seeing a white truck pulling up to the residence and loading an individual into it, then leaving. Responding unit 92 noted a white suburban speeding north of Albion towards 7 Mile with its hazard lights on. The Suburban was traveling at a high rate of speed towards St John’s Hospital on Moross.

Tell EMS To Step It Up!

On arrival, officers discovered 1 individual dead and Detroit EMS was dispatched to the scene.

Responding units had trouble gaining access to the residence and sought permission to force entry.

Information on suspects wasn’t immediately available.

Dispatch Audio: Steve Stephens Commits Suicide In Erie Pennsylvania

Stephens was spotted in McDonald’s parking lot by tipster who called police; short chase ensued.

Erie PA: Erie police have confirmed the suicide in Erie on Tuesday of Steve Stephens, the Cleveland resident suspected of fatally shooting a Cleveland man on Sunday and posting video of the slaying on Facebook.

Stephens died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound while driving a white Ford Fusion near Buffalo Road and Downing Avenue around 11:10 a.m., police said.

State police were following the car as it headed west into Erie, according to dispatchers.

The car, pointed west, is stopped in the westbound lane of Buffalo Road, across from the former Burton Elementary School, 1660 Buffalo Road. Police are blocking off the entire school grounds. Erie police are also at the scene. via GoErie.com

PA State Police Statement

Erie, PA – “Facebook Killer” Steve Stephens was spotted just after 11 a.m. this morning by an alert citizen near the intersection of Buffalo Road and Downing Avenue in Erie County, Pennsylvania, which is less than two miles from PSP Troop E headquarters.

PSP troopers immediately began to canvas the area for Stephens and located him in his vehicle a short time later. Troopers in marked patrol units initiated a pursuit that lasted approximately two miles.

The troopers attempted a PIT maneuver to disable Stephens’ vehicle, a white Ford Fusion.

As the vehicle was spinning out of control from the PIT maneuver, Stephens pulled a pistol and shot himself in the head.

A patrol trooper involved with the pursuit could not stop in time and slid into Stephens’ vehicle causing minor damage. No injuries to law enforcement or members of the public were reported.

5 Hurt In Easter Morning High Rise Fire

Easter Morning Commercial Box Alarm

Detroit: 5 people were hurt, 1 critically during an early Easter morning high rise fire. Fire broke out on the 6th floor of the Roberts III apartment building @ 3901 Grand River in Core City Detroit.

Detroit Fire’s Engine 17 responded to a “Still Alarm” to check for smoke @ around 7:00Am Easter morning.

Upon arrival, Engine 17 found smoke but was unable to locate the source.

Additional companies were dispatched through a Commercial Box Alarm.

Commercial Box Alarm Companies:
Detroit Fire Engines 1, E17, E27, Hamtramck Engine 1, Highland Park Engine 1, Ladder Truck 20, Ladder Truck 7, Squad 4, Squad 2, Battalion Chief 1, Battalion Chief 5, Senior Chief 203, Fire Marshal 602 and DPD Arson Car 809.

Chief 5 reported a fire on the 6th floor in an apartment at the rear with other companies reporting fire on the 7th. Fires were quickly extinguished.

5 civilians were injured during the fire including 1 female who suffered critical injuries when she reportedly jumped from the 7th floor.

Her injuries included a broken pelvic bone and two collapsed lungs. She was conveyed by DEMS to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

All patients were conveyed to area hospitals by Detroit EMS Medics.

Medics 8, 6, 1 and 9 all transported patients from an apartment fire at Grand River and MLK this morning. 1103 and 1105 also on scene

Armed Robbery Victim Escorted Home By Suspect

Armed Robbery Suspect Concerned For Victim’s Safety

Detroit-Northeast-9th Precinct: An armed robbery victim was escorted home by the armed robbery suspect because “he was concerned for her safety”.

The suspect is described as a black male, 17-21 years of age, medium complexion and wearing dark hoodie. He was armed with a knife.

Detroit Police are paying strict attention to the victim’s home.
