DETROIT POLICE DISPATCH AUDIO

DETROIT POLICE: 2:45am Wednesday – A Detroit Police pursuit ended when the suspects vehicle slammed into a tree early this morning on the east side of Detroit. The pursuit resulted from a shots fired/domestic call on the east side of Detroit.
A Detroit Police Scout from the 11th Precinct responded to Gable & Charles and observed the suspect in a white Pontiac Grand Prix leaving the area. The officers advised dispatch that the suspect was waving a gun when observed.
The pursuit wound through streets in the 11th Precinct at high and slow rates of speed, eventually coming to an end in the 7th Precinct on French Rd just south of Shoemaker.
The pursuing officers advised the suspects vehicle “was throwing sparks” and that the vehicle may have a blown tire. The vehicle hit a tree in front of an abandoned school and the front and rear sections of the vehicle separated, resulting in a fire. Detroit Fire & Detroit EMS were requested by the pursuing DPD officers.
DPD officers immediately checked to see if there were any injuries and at first were unable to locate the suspect. A search of the area found that the suspect had been ejected from the vehicle, suffering a “dismemberment”. The DPD officer described the injuries as a K-Type (Fatal).
In addition to the primary 11th Precinct scout car, you can hear units from the 7th Precinct responding and making the scene of the accident as well.
At one point during the pursuit the suspect may have tossed a handgun and officers performed an “extensive search”. It’s unknown if that weapon has been recovered. The pursuit was being monitored by Detroit Police supervisors.
UPDATE: Suspect in the police pursuit has been named as 25-year-old, Johnathon Miller.
