
Pursuit & Shots Fired In Inkster
Inkster: At around 4:10PM Sunday afternoon, Inkter Police received reports of 3 Black males breaking into a boarded up apartment in the area of 2630 Hamlin in the City of Inkster. Arriving units reported the suspects vehicle, a purple Dodge Challenger was in the process of fleeing the scene.
Officer pursued the vehicle from the scene and at one point, the suspects vehicle struck a police unit. Officers fired on the vehicle with their service weapons, striking it multiple times. It’s unknown if the suspect(s) were struck by gunfire. No officers were injured.
The pursuit proceeded on city streets and the I-94, at one time exiting the freeway at Rawsonville Road near Willow Run Airport. The vehicle then again entered the EB I-94, still being pursued by the police.
Officers lost sight of the vehicle in the area of the 275 & I-94.
Later, Detroit Police Greenlight 3 located the wanted vehicle at 7 Mile & Stout/Votrobeck in the City of Detroit. The DPD, Inkster and Michigan State Police have a perimeter set up in the area and the investigating continues.
It now appears the DPD is closing down the investigation in the area of 7 Mile & Stout.
MSP Update
Update: MSP was contacted by Inkster Police to assist with a B & E and shots fired at a apartment complex off Hamlin Dr in the city of Inkster. Very preliminary investigation revealed that Inkster Police officers confronted three suspects fleeing after trying to break in.
One of the suspects got into a purple Dodge Challenger. As the suspect fled he struck one or two patrol cars and police fired at the suspect. At this time there are no injuries to suspect(s) or officers.
The suspect vehicle fled the area.
The suspect was pursued by several downriver area departments until they lost contact with the suspect. At approximately 6 35 PM, DPD units located the vehicle unoccupied in the area of 7 Mile and Stout. Currently, none of the suspects are in custody.
