1 Wounded In Downtown Detroit Shooting

Detroit: Detroit Police responded to reports of a shooting outside of their downtown headquarters on Saturday afternoon. DPD 911 received a call saying there had been a male shot at Michigan & 3rd St’s at around 3:45PM. Detroit Police dispatch had a bit of a problem finding units available as 3rd Precinct units were busy with a foot pursuit. A Casino unit responded along with 7th Precinct units. Detroit Fire also responded to the scene with Detroit EMS.

The suspects and victim were apparently known to each other and the shooting took place inside the victims vehicle parked outside the DPD Headquarters Building, according to dispatch. The victim was shot in the leg and was able to escape the vehicle.

The male and female suspect, driving the stolen/carjacked black Chevrolet Cruze, hightailed it to the bus station at Sixth & Howard, SW of the shooting location. There, a Michigan State Police Metro South Trooper was flagged down and advised a vehicle was blocking Howard St in front of the bus station.

While investigating the vehicle a cab driver told the trooper the front seat passenger had been armed. The driver was described as female. Michigan State Police dispatch advised the metro south trooper this was a fresh car jacking that occurred at Michigan and 3rd. The registered owner of the car was shot twice.

The trooper stood by rendering assistance until the arrival of DPD units.

The suspects, described as a Black male and Black heavy set female with long blonde hair jumped into a City Cab and were conveyed to the area of McClellan & Mack. Multiple units from the 7th Precinct responded to the area and a search for the suspects commenced. The suspects were eventually cornered and arrested. A weapon was recovered.

Violent Brawl In Downtown Detroit Captured On Video

April 16, 2017 By Motor City 911 Leave a Comment

We post incidents like these all the time, we hear it go down, but rarely see the incident. This video shows a fight that happened Saturday evening/Sunday morning in the area of Greektown Casino.

Initially, Detroit Police officers assigned to the area as “Greektown Units” thought someone might have been shot. Once officers arrived on the scene they discovered 1 person with serious injuries due to the fight. No shooting had occurred.

When people get “liquored up”, things are bound to happen. There have been numerous robberies, both armed and unarmed, in the downtown area around Greektown and even a few shootings.

It’s best to keep your wits about you when visiting downtown Detroit, no point in becoming a victim.

Good write-up below on the incident from George Hunter of the Detroit News.

One Person Hospitalized After Violent Brawl In Greektown

Fights everywhere, Moross/Alstead and Monroe/St Antoine. 10 people beating the crap out of each other on Moross, 1 dude throttled on Monroe.

From The Detroit News:

Detroit police are investigating a violent brawl in Greektown on Saturday night that left one man hospitalized.

The incident, which was filmed and posted to Facebook, is the second videotaped fight within a week in Detroit that shows several people cheering instead of helping.

In the most recent fight, police say people filmed and cheered, which has drawn the ire of Detroit’s top cop.

“All those people were out there with their cellphones, and instead of calling the police, they video it for Facebook,” Chief James Craig said. “This is extremely disturbing.”

Eventually, two 911 calls were made and police arrived on the scene “relatively quickly,” Craig said, but the fight was already over.

The 51-second shaky video of Saturday’s fight begins by showing an apparently unconscious man lying on the sidewalk outside the Greektown Parking Garage at the corner of Monroe and St. Antoine. The camera then pans to a man pulling another man by the leg, while others jump in and begin kicking and beating him.

Two of the men then rush over to another man lying on the sidewalk and begin beating and kicking him amid shouts from onlookers. The camera sweeps left, showing a man knock down another man with a punch; the victim falls next to the prone man who was in the video’s initial shot.

The second man is attacked for a few seconds before he’s able to get up. One man delivers a punch to the first man’s head before walking away.

Several people are seen on the video laughing as the men are beaten. Another group stands outside St. Mary’s Catholic Church watching the fight.

Finally, a man wearing a red vest waves his hands, gesturing in an apparent effort to stop the others from further beating the prone man.

“We have identified the victim, who is in the hospital,” Craig said. “Now, we’re trying to ID the suspects. There’s more video to look at; it’s Greektown, so there’s lots of surveillance video to go through.”

The victim’s condition was not known Sunday.
