Shots Fired At Pursuing Officers
Detroit’s West Side: The DPD’s 8th Precinct is working another officer involved shooting that occurred earlier Saturday morning on Detroit’s NW side.
The incident started at around 5:15AM at St Marys & Keeler when 8th Precinct scouts witnessed a vehicle strike another. The officers attempted to stop the Buick Le Sabre when someone inside the vehicle started firing shots toward them.
The 8th Precinct Scouts pursued the vehicle until it “cracked up” in the area of Davison & Winthrop. One of the suspects inside the vehicle again brandished a firearm and an officer fired 1-2 rounds at him. According to dispatch audio, officers did take at least 1 person into custody at the scene with at least 2 others escaping on foot. No officers or suspects were injured.
A K9 track led officers to an address on Montrose where they found 1 adult female and 2 juveniles hid in the backyard. A check of the Buick Le Sabre’s registration led officers to another address on Montrose. DPD is at that address still working the incident.
The 8th Precinct is still detaining people at the house on Montrose. It doesn’t appear to have been cleared yet. 10:29AM.
DPD Evidence technicians have processed the scene at St Mary’s & Keeler.
The below audio is from the start of the incident at St Marys & Keeler and ending at Davison & Winthrop.
