Non Fatal Shooting in NW Detroit

Shooting: #DetroitPolice 8th Precinct investigating a shooting at Beaverland & Puritan.

Officers were dispatched around 2:34 PM after ShotSpotter detected multiple gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, a female 911 caller reported she was struck in the arm after a bullet entered her bedroom window.

Two vehicles were observed fleeing the area: an older model Saturn SUV and a black Chrysler 200 with dark tint.

EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with a non-fatal gunshot wound. The investigation remains ongoing.

Five Points & Frisbee in the 8th Precinct

Detroit’s NW Side, 4:50PM 7.27.24: Shooting: DPD’s 8th Precinct, DFD’s Engine 54 (MFR) and DEMS Medic 4 responded to reports of a shooting at Five Points & Frisbee Saturday afternoon around 4:50PM.

Dispatch audio suggests the GSW victim is a female. A firearm was recovered on scene by 8th Precinct scouts. A neighboring precinct was warned of possible retaliation from a group at the shooting scene.

Firefighters from Engine 54 accompanied DEMS Medic 4 to the hospital due to the severity of the wound(s).

DPS Officer Dies Following Large Fight

Detroit’s NW Side-3:37PM March 10 2022: A Detroit Public Schools officer died during a large fight near Henry Ford High School, 20000 Evergreen Rd. Detroit Police were notified by DPS Police dispatch at around 337PM that one of their officers was injured and down in the area of Trojan & Vaughan, 1 block west of Henry Ford High School.

Multiple officers from DPS School Police and Detroit’s 8th Precinct responded. At the time of dispatch and arrival of officers, the injured DPS officer was unconscious and not breathing. Detroit EMS was dispatched to the scene, but a DPS Police unit conveyed the critically injured officer to Sinai-Grace Hospital. Officers from both the DPD and DPS blocked roads for the conveying officer.

The Detroit Public Schools officer was pronounced deceased at Sinai-Grace. At the time of this writing it’s unknown how the officer died. A large log was recovered from the scene and surveillance video capturing the incident shows a rather hectic scene, but the cause of the officers death is still unknown.

via ODMP: Police Officer Freddie Wilson died after collapsing at the scene of a large fight near Henry Ford High School at about 3:30 pm. Multiple officers had responded to the fight near the intersection of Vaughan Avenue and Trojan Street that involved a large number of subjects. Officer Wilson suddenly collapsed as they were dispersing the crowd. Other officers immediately rendered aid. He was transported to a local hospital where he passed away a short time later. Officer Wilson had served with the Detroit Public Schools Community District Police Department for over 20 years.

Detroit Police Investigate Non Fatal Shooting In NW Detroit

16100 Block of Kentfield

Update: The DPD’s 8th Precinct arrested 4 people, recovered 1 firearm and a stolen vehicle following a search warrant at a nearby address.

Detroit’s NW Side 130PM 6 November 2021: Detroit Police were dispatched to the 16100 block of Kentfield x Puritan early Sunday afternoon on reports of a shooting. A 911 caller reported a black male was being attacked by others and “they shot him”. Arriving officers discovered 1 person with a gunshot wound and requested Detroit EMS to step it up. DEMS Medic 17 had the medical run. Witnesses on scene described 3 black males, approximately 18 years old, last seen fleeing the area east on Puritan. A Green Light Partner’s camera on Grand River recorded subjects jumping a fence on Kentfield a few minutes after the shooting. Officers set up a perimeter and a DPD K9 (K9-5) was called and a track was initiated. The victim was conveyed to Sinai-Grace Hospital, condition is unknown.
