14 Year Old Shot By 10 Year Old In East Detroit
Detroit’s East Side – 9th Precinct: Detroit Police say a 10 year old shot a 14 year old with a shotgun at around 7:15PM Monday evening on Pfent St.
Upon arrival, Detroit Police scouts confirmed the shooting and ordered Detroit EMS to the scene. Detroit Fire’s Engine 60 and DEMS Medic 15 were dispatched to the scene. The 14 year old is in critical condition at a local hospital.
This is yet another case of a firearm being left unattended and not secured by an adult. If history is to repeat itself, Detroit Police Chief Craig will throw the book at the offending adult.
It doesn’t take a lot of effort or money to secure a weapon where children might be present. Weapon locks are cheap and are sold with firearms purchased in the State of Michigan. You don’t have to have children in your home full time to find yourself at odds with the law. If there’s a weapon in your house and children are present, it needs to be secure.
Children being shot by other children isn’t uncommon in Detroit, unfortunately.
And so it goes….
