Detroit Fire Commercial Box Alarm on April 17, 2017. DFD companies from the 5th and 7th Battalions battled a vacant commercial bldg fire in Detroit’s west side Monday night.

Home Invasion Suspects Sought By Detroit Police

Home invasion suspects sought the Detroit Police. The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating three (3) suspects wanted in connection with a home invasion that occurred on the city’s west side.

On Monday, April 17, 2017 at approximately 11:55 a.m., in the 15700 block of Gilchrist, one of three (3) suspects forced entry into an occupied home.

The homeowner fired a shot as the suspect was entering through the window, and all three fled.

Nothing was taken and no injuries were reported.

On video, you will see the suspects notice the surveillance camera and turn it away from them.

Detroit Police Seek Kerry Nichols In Kidnapping Of 1 Year Old

Detroit: Detroit Police are seeking a suspect in the kidnapping of a 1 year old male child in northwest Detroit.

Officers were called to the 14200 block of Piedmont/Acacia on reports that a 1 year old child had been kidnapped by someone not the parent.

Officers of the 8th Precinct are looking for 21 year old Kerry Nichols, a black male, who kidnapped his girlfriend’s 1 year old male child, Dion, at around 10:05PM Monday night.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a White Dodge Caravan with a Michigan plate of DDV8003.

No further information at this time.

Woman Rescued From The Detroit River Monday Night

Detroit: A pregnant woman was rescued by the Detroit Police, USCG & Detroit Fire Department from the waters of the Detroit River Monday night.

Detroit police officers of the 4th Precinct in southwest Detroit were flagged down by passerby’s and told a woman was in the water near Riverside Park, just south of the Ambassador Bridge.

The 2 officers jumped into the water attempting to rescue the woman who at that time was holding onto a jacket thrown by a citizen.

At one point, an EMT from Hart Medical EMS also joined the officers in the water.

How the woman actually entered the water is unclear at this point.

The officers experienced a little trouble with the rescue and requested a ladder from the responding Detroit Fire companies of the 1st Battalion.

The US Coast Guard also put a boat in the water and responded to the scene to assist.

Update: The boat belonged to the US Postal Service and not the USCG as described in the dispatch audio.

The woman was eventually removed from the water and transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital along with the EMT from Hart Medical.

Update: The woman, suffering from hypothermia, gave birth by cesarian section. Both mother and child will survive.

Hart EMS & Detroit EMS Medic 6 transported.

A Detroit Police Officer was also conveyed to DRH by 4th Precinct Scout Car 411.

All involved will survive the ordeal.

K-9 Veterans Day is Saturday, April 22, 2017. A ceremony will be held at the Michigan War Dog Memorial located at 25805 Milford Road, South Lyon, MI 48178.

The event will start at 12 Noon.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit

K-9 Academy – Training, White Collar K-9’s – Security and Vietnam Dog Handler.
