Detroit: CBP Arrests Man On Murder Warrant At Ambassador Bridge

March 25, 2017 By Motor City 911 Leave a Comment

DETROIT – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Ambassador Bridge arrested a man wanted for homicide after he attempted to enter Canada on March 24, 2017.

CBP officers encountered a car bearing North Carolina license plates at the Ambassador Bridge after returning from Canada around 4am.

The female driver and male passenger, both U.S. citizens, claimed they did not intend to go to Canada and were refused entry because the male did not have any identification documents.

A CBP secondary inspection, including fingerprint verification, revealed the male traveler, identified as 26 year old Jerome Jones, was the subject of an arrest warrant for first degree murder out of Cumberland County, NC.

“CBP Officers went the extra mile to identify the subject of a murder warrant.” said Port Director Roderick Blanchard. “Our vigilance and attention to detail helps keep our communities safe.”

Jones was arrested and transported to Wayne County Jail to await extradition.

Jones is wanted for the murder of 34-year-old Jason McKnight in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Criminal charges are merely allegations. All defendants in criminal proceedings are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
