Dispatch Audio: Engine 34 Discovers Fatal Shooting Scene

Man Shot & Killed On Detroit’s West Side

Detroit: Detroit Fire’s Engine 34 discovered a shooting victim early Friday morning, 23 Nov 2018, on Detroit’s west side. Originally dispatched as a medical aid, Engine 34 firefighters discovered the unsecured homicide scene at Epworth & Warren shortly after arriving. DEMS Medic 10 arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. Detroit police 2nd Precinct also responded.

Last Call: Detroit Fire Senior Firefighter Michael J. Lubig – Engine 58

Last Call Detroit Firefighter Michael J. Lubig

Last Call for Detroit Fire’s Senior Firefighter/Acting Sergeant Michael J. Lubig. Engine 58’s Firefighter Lubig died late in the evening of November 12, 2018. FF Lubig was detailed to DFD’s Squad 4 when he suffered a heart attack. FF Lubig responded to 3 fires and a medical aid on the evening of his death. FF Lubig, a second generation Detroit Firefighter, leaves behind a wife, 4 children and grandchildren. He was 46 years old.

Dispatch Audio: Injury Accident Involving Detroit Police & DEMS, Fatal Fire In Detroit

Injury Traffic Accident Involving Detroit Police & Detroit EMS

Detroit November 10, 2018: Detroit Police and Detroit EMS were involved in an injury traffic collision Saturday night. Details on the accident aren’t known at this time, but Detroit Fire Squads had to extricate victims from the vehicles. The extent of injuries are also unknown. The collision between the 10th Precinct unit and DEMS Medic 26 occurred on Detroit’s west side @ Chicago & Linwood. Below is the dispatch audio of the incident. The audio has been heavily edited for time and content unrelated to the incident.

Edit: Reports indicate 1 police officer is in stable condition, the other in temp serious condition. The 2 Detroit EMS techs are in temp serious condition. The patient being conveyed in the ambulance, a 35 year old male, is in stable condition.

Fatal Fire On Detroit’s West Side

Detroit November 10, 2018: Detroit Fire responded to an occupied structure fire on Detroit’s west side Saturday evening. Detroit Fire’s 5th Battalion fought the fire @ Lawrence & Petoskey and found 2 victims inside the residence. One of both of the victims died as a result. Details on the deaths are unknown at this time. Detroit Fire companies on the scene experienced water hydrant and water pressure problems while fighting the fires. Detroit Police were dispatched to the scene due to unruly citizens and an arson car was also dispatched to the scene. Below is dispatch audio from the incident. Body Found In Burning SUV

Detroit Police & Fire Discover Body In Burning Vehicle

January 3 2018

Detroit’s NE Side: Detroit Police & Fire Companies discovered a dead body inside a burning GMC Yukon early Wednesday morning.

The DPD and DFD were dispatched to the 10300 block of Outer Drive East at 02:50AM Wednesday morning for a vehicle fire/shots fired call.

The reporting person told police she was awakened by a popping sound on the side of her home and when she looked outside, saw the burning SUV in her driveway.

Ladder Truck 27 from the 7th Battalion and Engine 46 from the 9th Battalion arrived on scene and stretched a red line on the burning Yukon.

The officer of Ladder Truck 27 requested an arson car to the scene due to a victim being inside the burned SUV.

The 9th Precinct’s scout on scene also advised DPD dispatch that he had an “obvious K-Type” in the driver seat of the vehicle.

Investigators have indicated the body belonged to a male and had also been shot.

The white 2007 GMC Yukon came back registered to an address on James Couzens in the City of Eastpointe.

The vehicle had not been reported stolen.

Fire Injures 8 In Early Morning Blaze

8 Injured In Early Morning Blaze

Detroit: 11:58PM December 26 2017: Companies of the 8th & 5th Battalions battled a 3 story apartment building fire in bone-chilling, single digit temps @ 1631-1633 Glendale late Tuesday night.

Detroit Fire Companies On Scene:

Battalion Chief’s 8 & 5

Engines 39, 35, 40, 42 & Highland Park Engine 1.

Ladder Trucks 17 & 18. 

Squads 4 & 5

Detroit EMS

The fire was reported in the basement in an occupied 3 story apartment flat on Glendale & Rosa Parks at 11:58 PM, Tuesday evening.

2 adults and 5 “teens” were conveyed to local hospitals by Detroit EMS. Reports indicate the adults jumped from windows to escape the flames/smoke.

A Detroit Firefighter also received burns to his neck and face, was conveyed to a local hospital and later released.

DPD/DFD Arson was also dispatched to the scene on reports of a possible arson. Arriving DFD companies noticed a “disturbance” and “fisticuffs” at the scene.

Residents were observed “upset” at 2 other residents.

Battalion Chief 8 reported “it seemed suspicious”.

The firefight lasted into the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The Red Cross also made the scene in support of the 30+ displaced residents.
