DEMS-DPD Prevented From Providing Care

Detroit’s West Side (3:01AM): DPD’s 2nd Precinct and Strike Force units once again had to deal with large unruly crowds in the area of Grand River & Oakman Blvd’s Sunday morning.
The DPD’s 2nd Precinct received a 911 call from a pregnant woman asking for help. The woman stated her water had just broke and she required medical aid at Grand River & Oakman Blvd’s.
At the time of her 911 call, DPD’s 2nd Precinct had another priority 1 call in the same area for shots fired and a possible shooting.
DEMS Medics Met With Gunfire In Area
Detroit EMS had been dispatched to the woman’s call for help and as they approached the scene they were met by gunfire. The medics; unable to provide aid the the woman, staged nearby until the DPD could secure the area.
Strike Force units began to secure the area when word came in that the woman was going into contractions and a shooting victim was found at Grand River & Ohio suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck, according to dispatch audio.
DPD units on scene stated the frequency of shots being fired increased as they entered the area.
While searching for the woman and the shooting victim, DPD Scouts had to dodge crowds and speeding vehicles leaving the area. Eventually, Detroit EMS was able to make contact with the woman and an additional DEMS Medic was dispatched to Grand River and Ohio St for the shooting victim.
Later in the evening, another shooting victim was privately conveyed to Henry Ford Hospital, possibly in conjunction with the shooting at Grand River & Ohio. Detroit Police evidence techs were sent to Grand River & Ohio to process the scene of a non-fatal shooting.
