
Via Michigan State Police:
Detroit: On 7/14 at approximately 4 45 PM a trooper from the Metro South Post conducted a traffic stop on W/B 8 mile approaching Greenfield. The stop was for speed and careless driving. The suspect vehicle abruptly pulled to left lane and stopped.
As the trooper approached the driver’s side he observed the male passenger with both hands stuff something into his waist band . The trooper ordered both occupants to show their hands and place hands on front dash. Both occupants were combative and uncooperative.
The female driver took the keys out of the ignition and threw them on car floor. As she did this, the passenger got out of the car. The trooper ordered him back to the car. The passenger began to resist and the trooper and the passenger began to fight.
The trooper and the suspect began fighting in the left lane of 8 mile. During the fight the suspect was able to stand up, and continued to actively resist. The suspect then fled, running across all 4 lanes of traffic. The trooper ran after the suspect ordering him to stop.
The suspect then turned and took a fighting stance at which time the trooper deployed his Taser. The suspect was handcuffed and taken into custody with the assistance of a good samaritan. During the entire fight the female driver was pushing and actively obstructing the trooper.
The driver was arrested for no insurance and obstruction charges will be sought. She was processed and released.
The passenger was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and resist and obstructing a police officer. The vehicle was impounded.
