4 Day Old Infant Shot In Detroit
Detroit Police & Detroit Fire Response
An infant was shot Wednesday night around 1020PM. Detroit Police were dispatched to Maddelein & Boulder St on reports of a male shot at the location.
Reports were later updated to include 2 others, 1 being a child.
Detroit Fire’s Engine 48 and DEMS Medic 44 were also dispatched to the scene.
Detroit Fire’s Engine 48 was first to arrive on scene and staged close by, waiting the arrival of police units.
Engine 48 advised Central Dispatch that a child had been shot and they were going to respond to the scene. Detroit police units from the 9th precinct were still enroute and not on scene.
Engine 48 discovered the child and a woman had both been shot and requested an ETA for medics. Central Dispatch advised Engine 48 that Medic 44 had a 5 minute ETA and that Battalion Chief 9 and DEMS supervisor 1104 were also enroute.
Detroit Police units from the 9th Precinct arrived on scene and decided to convey the child to Henry Ford Hospital on Moross. 9th Precinct Scout 933 transported while other units cleared the way to the hospital, blocking intersections while advising dispatch of 933’s progress.
Engine 48 also reported a female had been shot in the leg and was being conveyed to the hospital by DEMS Medic 44.
No other victims were reported. Both the 4 day old infant male and his 24 year old mother sustained non life threatening injuries.
