Detroit: December 2 2018 – 235PM – Detroit Police had a mess on their hands today after receiving a shooting call in Detroit’s east side. DPD’s 9th Precinct responded to Corbett & Chalmers after a caller described a shooting where the victim was shot in the forearm, face and head by a shotgun wielding woman.
Upon arrival, one of the responding officers informed dispatch that she was removing herself from the call due to being related somehow to the shooting. I’m not really that much into assuming, but I believe the officer may be related to the shooting victim.
Inside the residence responding officers were greeted by an uncooperative crowd. Those inside the house were refusing to open the door. Inside were 8 children, the youngest being 3 months old and 3 adults. One of those adults was the shooter. Fortunately, although Detroit SRT (SWAT) were notified, those inside the residence handed over the shooter and a long drawn-out barricade situation was averted.
The shooter is described as a female in her mid thirties.
The victim was conveyed by Detroit EMS to St John’s Hospital, condition unknown. The weapon used in the shooting was recovered by officers on the scene and handed over to evidence techs.
The shooting took place earlier this afternoon around 2:40PM and officers were still on scene at the time of this writing @ 8:56PM.
And the wheels on the bus go round and round…
