
Detroit’s West Side: (7:30am) DPD’s 12th Precinct, Detroit Fire and Detroit EMS were called to Meyers & Curtis early Sunday morning for a serious traffic collision involving a DDOT Bus.

Detroit Fire’s Engine 30 was the first on the scene with DEMS Medic 3. Engine 30 notified Central Dispatch that Squad 5 should be prepared to use JAWS and that additional DEMS Medics were needed.
Preliminary reports indicate a vehicle travelling southbound on Meyers struck the the Detroit Department of Transportation Bus #1030 in the rear.
The driver of the vehicle was extricated by DFD’s Squad 5 and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A female in the rear seat of the vehicle was ejected through the windshield, landed on the hood of the vehicle and died at the scene.
Detroit EMS Medic notified DEMS Supervisor 1105 that he had 5 ‘critical patients’ and 2 ‘K-Type’ (fatal) on the scene. A total of 5 Detroit EMS Medics responded during the incident.
The number of passengers on the bus and their injuries are unknown at this time.
Detroit Fire’s Engine 30 notified Central Dispatch that Squad 5 and all the Detroit EMS Medics were to gather for a ‘table-top’ debrief following the incident.
Detroit Police sent evidence technicians to process the scene and the DPD Fatal Squad also responded to the incident.
