
Fatal Shooting On Detroit’s West Side
December 12 2016 Detroit: Detroit Police responded to Tireman & Firwood in the 10th Precinct this afternoon at 1:15PM on reports of a person shot.
Upon arrival, DPD Scouts discovered a 13 year old male had been shot in the chest.
Detroit EMS & Detroit Fire’s Engine 42 were dispatched to the scene.
Detroit Police have said the children were at the house on Tireman playing video games due to the Detroit Public School system’s “snow day”. The 13 year old shot had been invited to the house along with others.
At some point, one of the teens retrieved a handgun belonging to the owner of the house. While showing the handgun to his friends, the weapon discharged striking the 13 year old in the chest.
Confirmed Shooting: 10th Precinct. Tireman & Firwood. 13 year old with a GSW to chest. Scout believes its fatal. DFD/DEMS responding.

Detroit EMS then transported the teen to the hospital while performing CPR. The 13 year old died from his injuries.
One of the DPD scouts on scene said the teens told him the shooting had been accidental.
The teens involved were then conveyed by DPD scouts to the Detroit PD homicide division for questioning.
