
Westland, Michigan: Westland Police are investigating an attempted smash & grab at Kay Jewelers in the Westland Mall. Police were dispatched to the mall at around 4:50PM.
Dispatch audio suggests that 3 young black males attempted to rob the jewelers. They entered the store, told everyone to get down, then bailed.
They are described as young black males, possibly high school age. They left in what is described as a red Chrylser 4 door with a temporary registration tag.
All 3 men were wearing masks during the incident.
The first suspect, the driver, is described as a light skinned black male, skinny, with long wild hair. He never left the vehicle.
The second suspect is described as a young black male, small in stature wearing all red, gloved and armed with a mallet. 5′ 6-9″ in height.
The third suspect is described as a young black male, skinny, gloved and wearing a gray silver mask, all black running clothes. Height 5′ 6″-9″.
Suspects were last seen fleeing towards the JC Penny.
